Best Mexican in the area. My husband and I eat at Abuelo's frequently. The food is delish, the chips and salsa are awesome, and the margs and sangria are both really good. The staff are friendly. The only downside is that the light in the center courtyard of the restaurant is really bright and garish. This bug lighting is easily avoided by sitting in the stylish, comfy bar area.  View Less View More

Patrons of this upscale Tex-Mex chain choose from a wide variety of dishes made with fresh ingredients.. In Short
The decor is the star attraction with colonial-style architecture, vibrant murals of Mexican life, and stone statuary resembling a wealthy landowner's rural hacienda. Entrees include Tex-Mex staples--enchiladas and fajita tacos--with a few surprises such as bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin and grilled mahi mahi. Sweets include the creamy caramel-flavored dulce de leche cheesecake and the rich chocolate flan drizzled with Kahlua cream sauce.  View Less View More

Great Mexican food. I loved the seafood fundido. The server brought out the basic salsa and I asked if they had anything hotter and that's when he brought out the yummiest habanero salsa I ever tried. Customer service was great as well.  View Less View More

No Thanks. What part of Mexico did this food come from? The Nouvelle Cuisine touch to their food is not Mexican. Didn't find anything that made me look forward to coming back.  View Less View More

Are there 2 of these in Chandler?. Disappointing to say the least. After all the hype I'd heard about their food and recommendations on when to and not go we decided to give them a try on a late

Sat. afternoon. The seating was quick and they were staffed well. That's where

the nice things ended. The food was barely warm, small servings and only 2 of

the 4 in our party recieved food at the same time. I was honestly embarrased to

have brought visiting friends from Illinois to this place  View Less

Great place!. This is one of my favorite mexican restaurant. They have great food, service, and atmosphere. It looks very fancy but the price wasn't at all. Wish it was much closer to where I live.  View Less View More

I love this place!. I must say that Abuelo's has the best chips and salsa then any mex restaurant I have ever been to. The chips are very light and warm, and the salsa always tastes fresh. I also recommend the Spinach quesadilla w/the Papas con chili. The quesadilla comes smothered with tons of cheese and baked crisp. The spinach is accompanied w/a mixture of corn and mushrooms and other spices. The papas con chili is a chunky mashed potato's mixture with tons of cheese and peppers mixed in. Very delicious! For the price (the lunch menu), it is definently worth the drive!  View Less View More

Just Another Chain. ediocre is the way I would sum up this place. I started with my side of refritos. My thinking is that if the beans are good, everything else that follows cant be too bad. The opposite also holds. Theres a certain taste that a lot of chain restaurant refritos have. There must be a supplier of boring, canned refritos. Maybe owners of these chains think the beans are secondary to the main course. No way! Beans are a necessary compliment, and the better the beans, the better my experience. I knew it was over for Abuelos after the first bite of refritos. I had a combo plate: a machaca burrito (menu calls it shredded beef so as not to confuse the gringos), an enchilada, and tamale. None of these were particularly interesting, and they deserve no further comment.  View Less View More

Great Food. If you can get past the staff of Hollywood wanna-be rejects, you will get a great meal. One of the great Tex Mex meals you will find in the area. I was very pleased with the meal and the ticket was about 45bucks including tip and no alcoholic beverages. Very tasty.  View Less View More
