so far best korean in phoenix

as los angeles transplants, we've been looking for some good korean food. the owners are incredibly nice and moved from la too, so they've brought some of their know-how. they gave us some tips on other korean grocery stores and restaurants in the area. the panchan (free side dishes) are well made and tasty, except the kimchee was a bit ripe for our tastes. we tried a couple of soup/stew dishes and they satisfied our need for comfort food. we will return to try some of the bbq meat that you can grill at your table.

• Cons: hard to find, located off 43rd in the corner of a mini-mall near the roller rink

Koreans eat here, big cushion seats, good service, homemade side dishes.

The food is tasty. I normally go for lunch special and order Mackerel ($8). Meals start with a bunch of side dishes (mostly veggies). The main portion is generous with two pieces of fish, tempura, bowl of rice, and fried clear noodle, and a side salad. They use a quality rice here, unlike most Chinese places. Tempura is crisp. It comes with one shrimp and sweet potatoes. The lunch special even comes with a desert at the end.

Koreans eat here. That means they food are authentic. They also have Karaoke room at night.

The plaza its located are not that welcoming though. There are people smoking cigarettes outside during lunch hours.

Not everything is perfect though. The kimchi is too salty for my taste. a salad is too sour. The desert on a plastic cup has a detergent smell on it. Just pick and choose the good parts and you can come out with a satisfied meal, fulfilling for hours.
