We decided to go AZ 88 after a recommendation from a friend. The setting is beautiful and the decor is modern and hip. We were unsure of where to go to put our name on this list and others were waiting in chairs in the front of the restaurant. I had my boyfriend approach one of the waiters to ask, and he directed him to a blond woman and she promptly pointed a table out for us. It seems like they don't have a set system for seating, so knowing this might be helpful on your first visit. They were busy and the tables are kind of jammed together, but comfortable enough. I didn't order a cocktail but a friend had a Mai Tai and wasn't thrilled about it. I ordered their only Riesling on the menu and it was delicious. The burgers were tasty, but the fries were my fav! They are waffle fries and the sauces served with are great.

My friends at work suggested that I go to AZ88 for their awesome drinks. On a Saturday night my husband and I decided to go. I was exciting to go and was really hungry. As we walked up we saw the crowd and figured that there would be a wait to get a seat. We were both willing to wait . As we approached the host, he gave us a blank stare like "what are we doing here? " I was instantly turned off but still wanted to eat there. So I said " seating for 2 please". He looked around and said " ok, go in there (pointing into the dining area) and find a lady with a white shirt and black tie (mind you, thats their uniform so they ALL were wearing it) named Ally, she will find you a seat" I was furious. I couldnt believe he expected me to walk around the dining room in a sea of people to find my OWN hostess !! I was so upset I said " never mind, i dont even want to eat here anymore." This was my first impression of AZ88 and it was NOT a good one. Dont think i'll try again.

Pros: Attractive Setting

Cons: Horrible Host

Wow! I was blown away by the quality of service at this Scottsdale eatery. It was such a pleasant experience from start to finish! My party ordered the Gallettes to begin with...an eclectic mix of caramelized onions and black olives on flatbread. We washed it down with delicious, bottomless iced-tea. For an entree, I ordered the Cobb Salad with Swiss cheese. I only managed to finish half of the salad due to the generous portions. It was packed with rich, avocadoes and the perfectly grilled chicken. One of the patrons I was with ordered the AZ/88 Chicken Salad and it was a bit spicy for her palate. The server took it back to the kitchen and promptly returned with a Cobb Salad. Fantastic. The decor was hip and modern. The bathrooms were a huge plus with mirrors everywhere and magenta lighting. A fabulous experience!!!

Pros: Service, Decor, Food

This place has great burgers, waffle fries and other finger foods. Its a very trendy bar which also serves very good food so its good before or after an event at the scottsdale center for the arts. Also good for lunch. It gets a gay crowd on Fri and Sat. so be prepared if thats not what you're expecting.

Well I heard great things about this place and of course I expected a lot and was disappointed. The design of the bar is great, except for the bathrooms which are kinda weird, but the rest is totally cool. The food we got was a little bland and not what I was hoping for. I will not be going back again.

Fun spot, great bar watching, however, they need better ventilation on crowed nights. I would also think a trendy restaurant and bar would still be successful if they cut the smoking inside. The place is packed and a few smokers ruin a good meal.

Cons: smoking inside

You can't beat AZ88 if you are looking for a happening people watching stop. This is one of my favorites when I am looking for casual dining but a fun crowd. The buffalo chicken sandwich is to die for.

Pros: unique drinks, food, atmosphere

Cons: crowded, parking/location

This is the best people-watching bar in Scottsdale!! Striking sleek and simple atmosphere and excellent drinks. The cocktails are expensive, but they are ample and generous. Don't listen to the bitter comments - simply not true!! The place is legendary!
