I wished I lived in the area...

by Woman22

My father-in-law treated my husband and I to dinner at Fleming's, and I was truly impressed. The server and expediter were very friendly and knowledgeable about the food, and were able to give great suggestions about wine pairings. I ordered the seared tuna, and it was amazing. It about melted in my mouth. I tried my husbands steak, and that was cooked perfectly, as well. We ordered the Chocolate Lava cake for dessert, and it should be named Death by chocolate! When we go back to Scottsdale, I would love to go back to this place.

Prime beef, a comfortable atmosphere and an extensive, user-friendly wine list are the signatures of this upscale steakhouse.

by Contributor

In Short
With a decor of dark wood, leather upholstery and soft lighting, this clubby steakhouse has a warm, upscale feel. The menu's focus is prime beef (aged up to four weeks), from bone-in rib eye and filet mignon to New York strip drizzled with bearnaise sauce. Classic seafood offerings include lobster tails, steamed crab legs and wild Alaskan salmon; sides, served a la carte, include baked potato and chipotle mac and cheese.

Impressive

by lotsoflove21

After reading all the hype about this restaurant, I decided to give it a try with my husband. We are natives to Scottsdale and are familiar with steakhouse favorites Mortan?s and City Hall. Although we have heard our friends mention Fleming's here and there, we never got around to going.

I have to admit, this restaurant does set itself apart. I was unaware that it was also a wine bar. I was impressed I could choose from over 100 wines by the glass...I could even pick any three wines I wanted and they would give me 3 two-ounce glasses (instead of 1 six-ounce) for just a third of the price for each glass. So I wasn't spending any more, and the flight was the same amount of wine as a single glass!

Our server was knowledgeable about the wine and made some great suggestions. The food was excellent and prepared to order; I didn't even have to hold my napkin up so butter would splash on me (sorry Ruth Chris).

We will definitely have to come back -- would recommend

  • Pros: knowledge and attentive staff; wine bar always a plus; not as snooty as Mortons or City Hall
  • Cons: parking is limited but valet is complementary

Great Place!

by smile11

This place is exceptional! I went here with my boyfriend for both of our first times and business associates and I was truly impressed! The waitress was very knowledgeable and the entire staff was very professional. We were there on a business dinner and the attention offered was not intrusive but very attentive. I had the bone-in NY Strip and I have to say that it is the best steak I've ever had. Also, you HAVE got to try the signature Chocolate lava cake. I can do no justice in describing it except to say that it is like heaven on earth!!! Will definitely be back...

  • Pros: Great place, good food, and knowledgeable staff.

Superior Lambchops!

by klresquiva

Took my girlfriend here on a recommendation from the concierge at the Hilton. She had the petite filet, I had lamb chops, which I've found to be challenging here in the valley. Both items were fantastic!! Perfectly cooked, lean, delicious. Had to wait for a few minutes for our table (no reservation), but picked out our wine at the bar. Service was excellent, can't wait for my next visit!

  • Pros: Food, wine list, service
  • Cons: None.

WOW!!!!!

by steaklover11

By far the best steakhouse experience I have had in the valley. Not stuffy like Morton's, Ruth's Chris, or Donovans. This is a lively place with a genuinely hospitable staff and and exciting ambiance with an open kitchen. Some say it is too loud, get a life, the open forum design is lively and adds to the experience. We dined out last weekend at the busiest time, but the hostess handled the mob graciously. Our server truly made the evening. He navigated us through one of the best wine lists I have ever seen and after trying a flight of three 2 oz. glasses of his favorites, we found the perfect bottle for our dinner. Our entire meal was ordered according to our servers recommendations and you could tell thathe enjoyed the responsibility of impressing us. We started with the Cajun Shrimp appetizer, dellicious! Followed that with a spinach and portobello salad which he had split in the kitchen because he didn'e want to spoil our appetites. That was the perfect cool down and build up for the main course. Upon return fro the restroom I found my table neatly maintained with the crumbs all gone and my napkin refolded, it was a nice touch. Then came the good stuff. Bone-In NY Strip charred med rare...Best steak I can remember ever having. A delicate 12 oz. filet mignon "Oscar Style" which is topped with bernaise, asparagus, and fresh lump crab meat. Accompanying these world class steaks were the wonderful fleming's scalloped potatoes, boldly flavored sauteed mushrooms, and crisp grilled asparagus. Wow! Wow! Wow! Everything was incredible. Even though you could tell that our server was very busy he made sure everything was, and I quote, "PERFECT" What a lofty expectation, but I could honestly say that it was. We capped off this memorable meal with a pairing of port and a signature chocolate lava cake. From first impression to last, Fleming's on Scottsdale and Lincoln really shines! I will be back with friends in the very near future to enjoy this distinguished establishment.

  • Pros: great service, serious steak, wonderful appetizers, best wine list

Great Food, Wine, Service and atmosphere..what more can one ask for?

by scottsdalerestaurantlover

If you are looking to go out and have a great time then this is the place. I have dined at many, many restaurants in my day and the Flemings at Lincoln and Scottsdale has something about it that draws me back time and time again. The food is always phenomenal and the service is always friendly and on point. Last night our server was extremely knowledgeable and unpretentious when we were discussing wines, he truly wanted to educate and get me something that fit what I was eating and desiring. The wine flight he offered allowed me to take a taster of wines I was unfamiliar with but eager to try and experience, with a ton of choices he was right on with all of the choices, making it very approachable and un-intimidating. Lastly the pairing of the port and lava cake was something that capped the evening off perfectly and makes me want to go back tonight or in the very near future??.what a great time!!!!!

  • Pros: Service, food and selection of wine
  • Cons: very busy all the time

Awesome atmosphere and food!

by diningfamily

From the charming surroundings to the amazing steak...Fleming's is a MUST for anyone looking for a wonderful evening out. They have phenominal steak that I have never been able to match in years of dining out. From years of restaurant exposure, I recommend Fleming's for anyone looking for a memorable date night or gatherings with friends or coworkers. I have always had awesome service and that can only be matched by the consistently awesome food and wine selection. You gotta go try it for yourself!

From one picky diner to another...you will be very pleased!

  • Pros: all around great on everything
  • Cons: be sure to make a reservation for busy nights

Awesome food, not so awesome service

by celizabeth

I have to be honest, I'm a bit of a food and service snob, having worked in the restaurant industry for quite awhile, so this review might seem a bit... nit picky. If I was eating out at an average casual restaurant, I wouldn't think twice about most of this stuff. BUT... if I'm going to go to a restaurant and pay $40 for a single steak, plus $7 to $12 for each additional side, plus $10 to $16 for a decent glass of wine, then my server better be on point. The food was excellent, and our server was very friendly and was putting forth a solid effort. I believe the fault here lies much in lack of training on the restaurant's behalf. Like I said, if you're gonna charge THAT MUCH, which I'm willing to pay, then the service better be damn good. It started with the greeting which included the word "folks", then she proceeded to lean on our table as she spoke and fill her descriptions with "um." These aren't good no matter where you dine, but at a place like this... clean it up. I'm sorry, I can't help it, I notice these things because I make a living off of not doing them. Anyway, dinner was great and her service was prompt. She then clearly started getting very busy, which is fine and happens, though our dessert course suffered. I ordered a drink, she said ok, then came back 10 minutes later to say they didn't have that liquor. I ordered something else, same thing, 10 minutes later. Then, to save time and because my dessert had already arrived, I asked for any tawny port, which I knew they had plenty of. I ended up receiving a glass of dessert wine which she called port when she set it down. It was definitely far from tawny, and even farther from a port. Mistakes happens, nobody is perfect, but thats like ordering steak and getting chicken. KNOW YOUR MENU. Isn't that kind of a no brainer? So basically, the food was great and I would definitely go back, and perhaps this particular server was an exception. Its just too bad it had to be at my table.

  • Pros: Awesome food, polite service, timely.
  • Cons: Inexperienced servers who need much more training.
