went with the family to getaway on the summer special - they didn't charge me the special rates and didn't apply the discounts. when I called for a mgr. before checkout I was passed through a few ladies that called to confirm they had taken care of it - still not corrected. felt like they pulled the classic bait and switch so look over your invoice correctly. if wanting a good family water park or don't mind thin walls and hearing your neighbors this could be the right stay for you - may be quieter after summer winds down. rooms are average, cleaning crew also doesn't refresh all items in the mini bar so look it over carefully or they'll try to charge you for the previous guests
Pros: water park for kids
Cons: noisy, packed, service was lacking

We stayed here with our 2 kids (11 and 7). The swimming pools and water park were great. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed having lunch and drinks at the water park. The overall resort was well maintained and the property itself was gorgeous. The only drawback was the condition of the room. The room is a one bedroom suite, tiny bathroom, and living room with a wet bar area and sleeper sofa. The carpet was filthy enough to get your feet visibly dirty after you walked on it. The faucet on the tub leaked, and the room itself always felt damp. Very limited closet space, and the 1980's TVs were terrible. In general, they should really spend a few $$ on cleaning the carpets and refurbishing the rooms. The $6 bottled water was also a bit much. Better just to go to the grocery store or target and buy your supplies for your stay. As we didn't spend a lot of time in the room, I would say overall we had a good time. Room is 3 diamond quality at best.
Pros: water park, spa, location
Cons: room quality

Booked the Girls Night Out package for New Year's Eve. There is an additional $16 resort fee that is automatically added to every suite whether or not you use these amenities. Bellmen were outstanding, friendly and very helpful. Suite assigned to us had spitballs all over the walls in the living room, smelled of smoke and there were cigarette butts on the balcony. Called front desk and complained. A bellman promptly delivered keys for another suite a couple of doors down and walked us through the other suite to ensure it was clean. Television in bedroom was very old/small and had a set volume; you could not hear movie over the central air conditioning. There were no paper towels or napkins provided in the bar area so if you were to make coffee a cocktail or have a soft drink or snack from the minibar, you would have to use a bath towel to clean up. It took forever for the room to warm up (checked into room around 3pm and temperature was finally comfortable around 10:30pm). Went to the fitness center. Sat in the women's locker room hot tub and noticed the vent directly above the hot tub was filthy dirty. Noticed that other vents and light fixtures were dirty and there was stained ceiling tiles in the vanity area. The wastebaskets were overflowing with used disposable razors and trash. The Oasis water park closed early on New Year's Eve (4pm). The water park was not open on New Year's Day (even though it was a holiday) because it fell on a week day. This was disappointing. DJ at Sports Bar did not provide a countdown or any interaction with the people for ringing in the new year (even though the bar provided a champagne toast). DJ played top 40 songs from 3-4 years ago that were popular and did not have anything fresh to provide. This resort is rated a AAA 4 star facility. I have stayed at Marriots and other hotel chains where the facilities are a lot cleaner and better maintained. I was very disappointed for the price that we paid.
Pros: balconies with beautiful views, golf, tennis, hiking, horseback riding, water park
Cons: rooms need updating/resort could be cleaner

used to be a hilton until new management. the rooms are nice, but nothing over the top. i think this is an all suite hotel too. the swimming pool and water slides are probably its best features. theres also a sports bar which is nice.

The Pointe hotels have always been outstanding but the Pointe South Mountain Resort is as perfect as it gets. We had a family reunion and we booked all the out of town guest at the Pointe South Mountain. Each room was beautiful. The staff provided outstanding service along with the ability to go above and beyond the call of duty. When my aunt needed some special food arrangements the chef came out personally and found out what she did and didn't like to prepare her the (in her words) best dinner I have had in years. If you have a chance to visit Phoenix, the Point is a place to go.
Pros: Great Service
Cons: Expensive
