just don't do it

by comsumer2005 at Citysearch

After going to Danny's several times now because it's convenient to my work, I will from now on drive OUT OF MY WAY just to go somewhere else. You can never go there and just get an oil change or a car wash. Upselling is their game and even going prepared doesn't mean you're going to get away without losing.

  • Cons: high pressure sales, EXPENSIVE!

Terrible customer service

by BrettAZ at Citysearch

Danny's damaged my 2009 vehicle with 400 miles on it, with it's first carwash. When I tried to speak to managers in charge they denied any responsibility whatsoever, lied to me about how they handle washes and generally gave me the run around, hoping I would just go away. Manangement staff was combative and agressive and made me feel that I was trying to scam them out of the damage they caused. Approaching corporate was an even worse experience, with their operations manager (Jack Eldude) finally getting back to me. He was not so much concerned with how his employees were lying to customers or treating them, but that I should understand that it is my word against theirs and how could I be so ridiculous over "twenty buck's" Now I understand that this would be a concern for a carwash about fraudulent claims of damage (really?), but to insinuate that the customer is mistaken and may even be trying to pull a fast one, and not to take one iota of responsibility is mind-blowing.

The fact that Danny's can be so far removed from customer service in an industry where their reputation is based off customer satisfaction is astounding. If they had even indicated they were prepared to take some of the blame or not been so aggressive I may have been able to come to a compromise with them. The fact that other people have had similar problems can only lead me to one conclusion, that people in Phoenix are apathetic when it comes to customer service and they don?t have many choices when it comes to a carwash. I would welcome anyone to try and explain this otherwise to me. Mr Eldude the fact that I am taking this so far over a $20 gear shift should indicate that I am serious about the abuse I received and the total lack of customer concern that seems to be a corporate philosophy at Danny's family. And maybe you do have some responsibility to the customers and their assets that you take in to your care on a daily basis.

STAY AWAY

  • Pros: Quick and cost effective - Hope nothing goes wrong
  • Cons: No customer service whatsoever, Agressive staff

DANNY'S FAMILY CAR WASH AND OIL AND LUBE CENTER

by ellenmilton at Citysearch

PEORIA STORE: Not only are you "attack" before you get out of the car with "used car" salesmen trying to get you to have your windsheld fixed, detail service, etc.The car wash use to be pretty good, but now you have to have them go over it serveral times before you get a half way job.

YOU CAN NOT DEPEND ON THEM DOING A GOOD JOB ON CAR MAINTENANCE. Had my power steering go out going to Flagstaff. No fluid. They said - not their problem - they didn't say they checked it on my invoice so they are not responsible. I had been going there for over 3 YEARS. with two vehicles for FULL SERVICE MAINTENANCE" They said you didn't ask so we didn't have to check or tell you we didn't check. There brochures and advertising says ALL FLUIDS CHECKED - WE WILL SEE THEM IN COURT.

Danny's: Place of harassment, no customer service at all

by blahblah102273 at Citysearch

Danny's has never given me even decent service. Every visit you can hear the shouts of angry customers, and there are a lot of us, but few actually result to shouting. If you want a better deal, better wash quality, better service, then I suggest you check out the carwash at 7373 E. SHEA BLVD., SCOTTSDALE, AZ. Here is my review for that location.

It is no longer owned by Danny's but is now known as GENIE CARWASH, which has 2 locations in Arizona, and several others in California, (as of July, 21 2007) Before, this location was a place where customers were harassed left and right, but now, NO MEANS NO. They offer the same services as Danny's (and more!) and the majority of there products and services are cheaper. Some notable things that are cheaper are there annual cards (knows as "family cards" at danny's, its unlimited washes for 1 year) by almost $100!!! I highly recommend this place over any of the nearby Danny's locations. You just cant beat the small business attention they give to each and every individual customer.

  • Pros: Depends on whether or not you like being over charged.
  • Cons: Poor quality; poor cutomer service; rude managers; tense environment

They've always done a good job for me

by bobbyp2 at Citysearch

I can understand how a person could feel 'pressured', but it's just a matter of knowing what you want. I had a cracked belt in my engine and I didn't even know it. They let me know (I was going to San Diego so getting my oil change.) They recommended some other stuff too. I just said I'd "take it under advisement" but I was going to "hold off for right now". But it was good they replaced my belt. I wouldn't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere. So far I haven't gotten any chips in my windshield, but if I do I will probably use the chip guy because it is conveniant. Time is important to me, so going to get gas, oil change, and a car wash all at once is easy. (My wife loves it when I get her a card from inside. They have a little Halmark thing going on.) I will keep going there.

  • Pros: Very easy. Conveniant.
  • Cons: Saturdays are very busy. Try to go during the week.

Best City Car Wash

by missclean at Citysearch

Not a deal! You have to point out all the tar and dirt left on your vehicle panels. One pays for a spray shine on the tires, but they have to be reminded, every time, to do it. Windows are streaked, always. Good luck in finding the supervisor who is the only availble (?) person to speak English.

  • Pros: Paint looks clean and shiney.
  • Cons: One has to remind them what is supposed to be included.

Beware HIGH PRESSUE SALES & SELLING PRODUCTS NOT NEEDED !!

by concernedcitizen2006 at Citysearch

I used to go to them all the time. This last time was the LAST!! I went for the convenience of an oil change and car wash - There is no $$ Savings which they make you believe you get a free wash. Quick Lubes charge half !!

I was presented with a DIRTY AIR FILTER and luckily I am one of those consumers that does it myself. Come to find out when I went and bought my own filter and had a mechanic friend change it, he found that my air filter was clean (just bought my vehicle 6 weeks before from a dealer). He showed me the air filter in my vehicle and it was not the same one the employee showed me. I recall this supposed filter of mine not to be the same. It didn't need changed and was in perfect shape. WHAT A RIP OFF - HOW MANY CUSTOMERS HAS THIS MECHANIC CONNED !!!

They were all over me with the glass repairs !!!! BEWARE THEY ARE NOT ON SOME OF THE MAJOR INSURNACE COMPANIES LIST OF VENDORS !!!

The car wash was very good but I don't care for dishonest people !!! I will NOT RETURN !!!

  • Pros: Car Wash job very good
  • Cons: High Pressure Sales, Selling of Products not needed !

"High-Pressure" Car Wash

by hleasudes at Citysearch

When I go in for a car wash/oil change at Danny's Family, I usually fend off the "tinting" guy, the "glass repair" guy, the "detail" guy, then (finally) an employee of Danny's Family who tries to upsell my car wash, inside "oil technicians" upsell power steering flushes or other services which all start at $49.95 using a high-pressure sales technique. Then I wait in line at the cash register, wait outside for my car to be dried, then get glares if I don't have cash left over to tip. Basically, I feel like I've been pan-handled for an hour straight and even though my car is clean, I feel dirty. I don't recommend it.

  • Pros: Location
  • Cons: Too many salespeople, High-Pressure sales, Not worth it
