comments not from clients

by arethalevay

I have read all the reviews and did some investigation to find that all the flowery comments were placed by CTC. These were not the comments of clients. Nonetheless, the internet is a useful tool but can be and is misused by many persons. Companies such as CTC are providing services and it is a shame that they and companies such as they have to defend themselves against comments by individuals who won't take responsibility for their own actions.

Beware!

by DRinPhoenix

I contacted CTC four days ago (I am writing this in December 2008). I was asked to e-mail my resume directly to Julie at the address she provided, which I did. I had been told that my resume would be forwarded to a career counselor and that I could expect to hear from someone by early afternoon the next day.

It is now midday on the third day after I initially contacted CTC. I just got off the phone with Julie. I explained that I was calling to follow up because I had not heard anything after submitting my resume several days earlier. Julie told me, quite curtly, that she didn't know what happened to my resume and why didn't I go ahead and send it directly to her this time. I explained to her that I had sent it directly to her last time. She said she must have forwarded it on then and she had no idea why I hadn't been contacted. I could either resend my resume or wait for someone to contact me. She said they were busy and she abruptly hung up. I called back and asked to speak with Rick Davis. She told me he was in a meeting. I asked to speak with someone in authority. She said that would be Rick Davis and since he was her father she had full control anyway. I asked her to have him return my call. She said okay and hung up on me again. I called back and asked her how he would call me if he didn't have my phone number. She said she was going to look for my resume and give it to him. And then she told me she didn't appreciate my questions or my attitude and she hung up on me again.

I did not find Julie to be a shining example of customer service. If this is how prospective, paying clients are treated, how do they treat employers that may have positions for their clients? Personally, I am unwilling to pay a fee of any amount, much less several thousand dollars, to be treated so disrespectfully. And, be careful to note that this isn't just a wayward employee. This is the owner's daughter. Fruit doesn't fall far from the tree.

Worked For Me

by aztrojan

Career Transition Centers (CTC) is not a headhunter. If you are looking for a service that just puts your resume out to potential employers - don't go there. You cannot be lazy and and suceed with their program. You have a financial investment in YOUR success with CTC; therefore, what you get is what you put forth. Rick Davis reviewed the entire program with me, including the contract, and timeline, in great detail. He was specific as to what CTC would and would not do. It was a clear explanation of what was expected of me and what I could do to ensure my own success. They will teach you (many class offerings), coach you, help you, encourage you, support you, but they will not do it for you. I highly recommend CTC to anyone interested, and willing to work to ensure their own success.

  • Pros: Great classes

Great for professional people

by mktgmgr

I found that CTC offers a really valuable service for the true professional. I was able to easily market products and services, but when it came to marketing myself, it was a different story. They helped me to realize additional opportunities and how to market myself more effectively to companies that they helped me target.

But like everything, you get out of it in direct proportion to what you put in. And they cannot get you a job for which you are not qualified. But they certainly made the search for me easier. Their assistance in how to interview was invaluable. I never knew how poorly prepared I had been before. I think that it was well worth the money.

  • Pros: Their insight into the interview and negotiating processes.

Great job services

by JAGMTG

I would highly recommend Career Transition Centers. They helped me write my resume, get a job offer in the industry I wanted and helped me to start with a higher salary than I was offered by assisting me with my counter offer. Actually, the owner has successfully helped me counter two job offers in the past ten years and I landed both jobs. I found the seminars on Negotiating, Interviewing, Paradigms and more offered by the owner to be extremely beneficial in my career search. One of the other things that really stands out about C.T.C. is the staff. They truly do care about you and want to see you succeed. That made all of the difference for me.

Waste of Money and Time.

by 4peace

This service is expensive and the communication and results are poor. They prey on you when you are the most vulnerable, out of work. Information provided is out of date and un-helpful. They suggest finding jobs in the "hidden market", if you have a lot of time, money and patience it might work. But you could "tap" into the "hidden market" as well with out dumping your money to do it. Just send cover letters and resumes to companies not advertising they are hiring and hope for a call. They rarely get new job orders. The contacts they brag about having must of been from the 80's, they always no somebody who worked there but who works at companies currently. I wasted my money so you don't have to. There are some good, legitamite companies out there, do your research.

  • Pros: good hype
  • Cons: poor service, performance, communication
