This is a "Zoo" ????
by northerndynasty at Citysearch
Ok, clearly the writers of previous reviews are desperately hungry for entertainment. I just went through this "zoo" yesterday, and I found it nothing more than a bunch of displays with 1 or less animals in them. The animals always huddled towards the back of the areas making them completely unviewable. I guess it was a zoo of Rocks n Sticks.
Furthermore, the prices for food (this isn't a suprise) is not just a ripoff, it's nothing short of thievery! No one item of food was worth what they wanted.
Plain and simple - go find somewhere else to entertain yourself...
- Pros: Water fountains were free...
- Cons: Everything other than the free water fountains....
Great family fun!!!!

It was fun before you walk the entire thing though (its huge) you might want to rent one of their family cycles they hold the entire family. You'll be able to peddle through the whole thing. Take the kids in swimsuits they have a fun water area to keep cool!
Def. Worth the trip!
- Pros: kids water area, family bicycles, its huge
- Cons: you'll need an entire day if your walking it.
Thousands of wild beasts, including many endangered species, roam here.
by Contributor at Citysearch
In Short
Wild beasts, including endangered species from around the world call this Sonoran spot home. See anteaters, giraffes, orangutans and the usual lions, tigers and bears. But don't miss the Forest of Uco exhibit, which authentically re-creates a South American rainforest and features a couple of endangered spectacled bears. Pedestrian thoroughfares include the Desert Trail, the Tropics Trail, the Africa Trail, the Arizona Trail and the Children's Trail. The zoo's exhibit of things that go "boo" in the Sonoran desert night is almost as popular as the petting zoo for kids.
Wonderful Zoo

Great zoo! Great attractions! Beautiful location!!! There is very little I would want changed - except to maybe have more marine exhibits.
Wasted money

The worst zoo I've ever seen....poor conditions, tiny cages for wildcats, poor layout.
The most enjoyable part was the bridge views upon entering. Save your admission fee and take in the views of the large fish, turtles, and birds around the entrance bridge.

Zoo-a-Rama

During the cooler months is the perfect time to visit the Phoenix Zoo. With the weather becoming nicer, the animals are more active and viewing time is extended. All ages will love the variety of animals and activities to do at the zoo. Currently "Boo at the Zoo" is the featured special. After Halloween, the annual Zoo Lights will be taking off. This event is NOT to be missed. If you have never seen it put it on your MUST see this year. While the Phoenix Zoo may not be as big as San Diego's or others it is well maintained and has sufficient animals, trails and activities to keep a family busy on a full day outing.
Kind of a dull zoo...

While the Zoo is pretty good and an excellent value if you get a membership, it gets very, very hot in the summer months, and the variety of animals isn't that great. They should have more indoor exhibits, considering the heat. The food is overpriced and not very good. Zoo Lights is GREAT, but bring back the rope lights on the pathways!!
- Pros: Zoo Lights, Memberships
- Cons: Too few animals, Food is yucky
"Zoo" place

Get the membership and save $1M if you have kids... the zoo is up to date, the animals aren't caged and the exercise will do you good.
