Blu-U Blu-U Blue Light Photodynamic TherapyPhotodynamic therapy (pdt) is a medical treatment that uses a light-activated drug therapy to treat moderate to severe actinic keratoses of the face and scalp caused by sun damage. Left untreated, these rough-textured, dry, scaly patches on the skin can lead to skin cancer. The basic premise of pdt is selective tissue destruction. With traditional cryosurgery (freezing with liquid nitrogen), only the visible pre-cancerous lesions can be treated, potentially leaving behind those that are hidden.
Skin Cancer ScreeningSkin cancer refers to the abnormal, uncontrolled growth of skin cells. The most common skin cancers are basal cell carcinoma (affecting cells in the lowest layer of the epidermis) and squamous cell carcinoma (affecting cells in the middle layer of the epidermis). A rarer but more dangerous skin cancer is melanoma, the leading cause of death from skin disease. Risk factors for developing skin cancer include pale skin, family history of melanoma, being over 40 years old, and regular sun exposure. Skin cancers vary in shape, color, size and texture, so any new, changed or otherwise suspicious growths or rashes should be examined immediately by a physician. Early intervention is essential to preventing the cancer from spreading.
Mohs Mohs Micrographic SurgeryMohs micrographic surgery has the highest cure rate for primary basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas.
Wart RemovalWarts are normally non-contagious skin growths caused by viruses. Different warts respond to different treatments. Salicylic acid products (in the form of drops, gels, pads and bandages) may aid self-treatment of warts by dissolving the keratin protein that makes up the wart and the dead skin above it. Effective treatments for warts include cantharidin (painless solution applied in office), liquid nitrogen freezing or electrical destruction. Surgery may be recommended for painful or large warts that do not respond to these treatments.
Acne TreatmentAcne can be unattractive and cause permanent scarring and emotional distress. Fortunately, several treatment options are available. Patients can often improve mild acne by washing with a facial cleanser twice a day, using prescription acne medications and/or chemical peels. For severe cases, laser treatment or blue light photodynamic therapy may be recommended. Acne scarring can be treated in a variety of ways including certain skin care products, chemical peels, laser or pulsed light treatments, soft tissue fillers, and microdermabrasion.
PsoriasisPsoriasis is a term that encompasses a group of chronic skin disorders that affect any part of the body, but most frequently affect the scalp, elbows, knees, hands, feet and genitals. Botox CosmeticWhen you smile, laugh, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes and mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry or tired. Botox® cosmetic treatments can not only prevent you from deepening these lines during natural facial movements, they can also erase these marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and refreshed.
Juvederm Injectable GelJuvederm is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet, thinning lips and loosening skin. It can also “plump up” the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin. Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. Juvéderm comes in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Results last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment a few weeks after the initial injection.
SculptraSculptra is an injectable product that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing lost volume. Facial fat loss, or lipoatrophy, is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas.
Fat ReinjectionIn addition to facial fillers, fat from your own body can be harvested and reinjected into your lips, cheeks, chin, under-eye area, and depressed scars to enhance facial fullness, fill deep creases and build shallow contours.
Hair Loss SituationAlopecia is a condition that causes hair loss. Many factors contribute to hair loss. You might be affected by one or more of these common factors:
Hair TransplantationModern technology provides a rich variety of hair replacement options. No one option is right for everyone. For those individuals who want their own hair, growing out of their scalp… hair you can wash, cut style and enjoy for the rest of your life… there is only one solution: hair transplantation surgery. You will find that it is a highly sophisticated yet simple surgical procedure that guarantees the patient will have their own hair growing once again in an otherwise bald or thinning scalp area. Generally when someone is affected with male pattern baldness it is progressive and causes gradual hair loss over the top and front of the head. Due to heredity, the hair on the sides and back of the head (the donor area) are not affected. This is what makes hair transplantation possible.
Follicular Unit ExtractionFollicular unit extraction (fue) is a revolutionary advancement in the way that individual hair follicles are harvested for transplant.
