Green Goddess SaladChopped romaine tossed with traditional creamy herb dressing this california creation originated at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco in 1923. executive chef Phillip Roemer created this salad to honor actor George Arliss who was the lead in William Archer's hit play "The Green Goddess". The dressing was named for its tint, and includes garlic, anchovy, parsley, chives, tarragon, lemon juice and mayonnaise. Prior to the advent of ranch dressing this was the most popular salad dressing on the west coast.

Food historians firmly believe the dish originated in New York City in the late 1950's or early 1960's, probably at the Drake Hotel. There are also many variations to the recipe. Our version is a true "classic" consisting of two medallions of filet mignon, topped with a brandy and pepper cream sauce that includes a touch of mustard and sautéed sliced mushrooms. The dish is believed to get its name from the Roman Goddess of the hunt; Diana.
