We went to the Happy Hour at the Lodge and had a good experience. The food and drinks were well prepared and the prices were half off. This place is casual but the crowd was pretty diverse. The bartender was Bennie and he was great.
My wife and I stopped into The Lodge while vacationing in Scottsdale, and I am glad that we did. I am from Little Rock, AR, which is a 20-hour drive from Scottsdale (we flew), so imagine my surprise when I overheard a man at the adjacent table talking about living in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to other diners that he was seated with. Small world, indeed, but I digress.
Ambience was befitting of a place called The Lodge. Has a charming rusticity which makes one feel like he is in a hunting lodge somewhere in Colorado, or something. We started off the meal with the potato skins appetizer, which came with a cheddar, green onion, and sour cream dip. All of the potato skins I have eaten in my time came dressed with the aforementioned, plus bacon (normally), so the concept of dipping the naked potato skins (food equivalent of skinny-dipping) was an interesting twist on a favorite. I also treated myself to a John Dailey [sic], a libation that pays homage to the troubled alcoholic, and sometime golfer, John Daly. The drink is a mixture of sweet tea vodka and lemonade. Very refreshing. I ordered the Atomic Burger, and had it prepared medium. The burger was topped with copious amounts of horseradish, which gave it a nice spice. Burger was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy, and massive in size. I advise one to use both hands when attempting to tackle this monstrosity. It really was a fantastic burger. Ranks right up there with one of the best I've ever had. If I were a resident of Scottsdale, I would frequent this place. Waffle-cut fries that accompanied burger were excellent. This place isn't fine dining, but it provided one of the best meals that I had while vacationing in Scottsdale. I highly recommend.
It was hard to decide what to choose for lunch because there were several interesting choices. My choice was the "angry chicken" - a wings and blue cheese sandwich that was fun and good. We shall return!
