Terrible

I love Mythos on Thursday nights because of the salsa band, however, the service is terrible. Every time I go there I have a bad experience. The first time (which was before the remodel) I left a credit card to start a tab but told the waitress that I intended to pay with cash. Before leaving, I paid with cash and the waitress returned my card. When I checked my account I found that I had been charged the full amount $56 on my card even though I paid with cash. My many calls to the manager were not returned. He said he would look into this and get back to me (all 5 times I called) but never did. I disputed the charge with my bank but they would not refund the money since I did not have a cash receipt. My advice to anyone trying this: DON'T leave that place without a cash receipt. My belief is that the waitress pocketed my cash and charged my card.

All other times were after the remodel:

The second time.. I called ahead for a table reservation and specifically asked if the salsa band was playing that night and I was told 'yes' by whoever answered the phone. When I arrived, I had no reservation and was informed that there was no band only a DJ.

The third time, I had the most awful waitress ever. Her name was Diana so avoid her like the plague. I have never left a restaurant or bar without tipping and this was the first time for me. As a former waitress it takes a lot for me to tip less than 20% let alone not tip. She left us our bill long before we were finished ordering so that she could go dance. We had to order the rest of our drinks from the bartender even though we had a table. When we tried to pay, none of the other waitresses could help us, only her. I had to find her on the dance floor and hand her the bill. She messed up several times with the charges. We could have easily walked out on the bill and I am regretting I did not do that.

These are just a few highlights.. the service is the worst I have ever seen.

Consistently Crummy

I like to go out and experience new restaurants and clubs. I took salsa classes at Mythos, the classes make you feel like you're in a cattle call. The food tries to be inspired, the service at the bar is profoundly subpar, meaning you get served if the bar tender cares to. I've actually been refused water at the bar by some ethnic (greek?) looking fellow and had to firmly remind him that in Arizona the law does not allow for this. It was a hot evening. Overall I give this place a mediocre rating for the consistently rude treatment I have experienced there. I usually tip very well (20+%) when everything is good and I do not believe I am a picky client. But being made to wait 25 minutes for a beer or glass of water when there are almost no patrons is not really acceptable in my book. Maybe you'll have better luck there; note that I have had no such problems at the countless other places that choose to be friendly and responsive to their patrons, from e4 to jackrabbit, blue note and the many others.
