This modern seafood eatery will greets customers with a people-packed oyster bar and hanging chalkboards filled with tantalizing daily specials. For people-watching, the comfy booths that surround the bar or patio seating are best. This happening happy hour or date place is the classiest edition to the Waterfront restaurants. After staying the Phoenix/Scottsdale area for a couple of days, we had tried a few other restaurants for dinner and asked our concierge for suggestions. This was one of them as well as a friend who had recommended it. We didn't have a reservation and although the wait was 45 minutes (it was after 8pm), we were able to sit in booths surrounding the bar area. The "real" tables were literally right next to us on the other side of the wall divider. The extra plus for us was that our tables were open for the extended happy hour prices which meant that a bunch of their regular menu items were 1/2 off the regular price. This also included drinks. We split the lettuce wedge which was amazing - definitely enough to share and had the crab cake and one of the snapper dishes as our main courses. Both were amazing, especially the crab cake (one big cake) - which had a little kick to it. For dessert we split the warm molten cake topped with vanilla bean icecream. This required 20 minutes and I am sorry to say that it was dissapointing as it was overcooked and no longer gooey in the middle. It was a pretty large one too so it must have been over cooking for a while. Overall, the service was good, except for the fact that our server put 2 tables worth of food on our bill. Luckily, my husband is an auditor and noticed that it was twice the amount that it should have been. The ambience is more young and trendy and therefore is loud but an ok-kind-of-loud. You could def wear nice jeans there. Our bill was $70 before tip for the food meantioned above plus one beer and one martini. Overall, it was one of the best dinners we had there. Other restaurants that were also very good were Cowboy Ciao (Stetson Salad was to die for) and City Hall Steakhouse.

We arrived on time for our reservation and had to wait about 5 minutes which was perfectly fine. After being seated we had a very long wait for our server. Then a very long wait for our drinks. The oysters on the half shell were good. One of the servers removed the starters before we were finished. I ordered the 'special' fish for the evening. It was like rubber. 2 out of 4 had major issues with the food we all had issues with the terrible service. It was unfortunate because we were entertaining guests from out of town. We will never return. There is so much better out there to choose from.

When I asked people in town where to go for a good raw bar, most people had no idea what I was talking about. I guess all that sunshine does something to your brain. I asked a sushi chef whether there was a good raw bar in town and he said hands down Wildfish was the place to go. He was right. Chef Zach was on hand to make sure that my party got everything we were looking for and apologized for the lack of Pacific Oysters on this night. He made up for it by describing the specials and what his vision was for them. He didn't need to do this, and was very busy so it was nice that he did. He also recognized that one of my party was a connoseiur of Oysters and they spoke about the suckers for 15 minutes. Again, the place was jumping, and for him to take time to discuss the finer points of Oysters is a testament to his commitment to his craft. The service was amazing. The staff was flirtatious, knowledgeable, professional and prompt. It is a nice combination and one that I thought was not possible in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Other places have models as servers, WF has model servers. The selection of wines was outstanding too. I can't get over how good an experience I had at WF. After the let down of people- even the Hilton Concierge not knowing what a raw bar was, to find Wildfish and have a dining experience that was so good was a pleasant suprise.
