Danny's has done their last oil change on any car of mine.
by Steveinnewriver
I've had it with these people and will not return. When they did my first oil change 2 years ago I was impressed. 5 or so changes later, I've had it. They try to pressure-sell everything from transmission oil to air filters when all I want is an oil change. Last month they called with a windshield replacement insurance scam "this is your lucky day Mr. ...." which I promptly reported to the insurance company. And today after my son dropped the car off for an oil change they called me to threaten "we are closing due to rain and you have ten minutes to pick up your car before they lock it inside" and called me "Boss" at least twice in the conversation. "Hey boss, you need to come get your car", and "OK, Boss, I'll take care of it." When I told them that I wasn't their customer, that my son was, and that I certainly wasn't their boss, they asked me to call him. When I suggested that it was their responsibility, he said he didn't have the number (they had called him an hour earlier to up-sell him with an $89 transmission oil change) When I called to complain to a manager, I talked to 3 different people that all called themselves "managers"!!! The first one told me "we don't call people "Boss" here." Short story...... I've had it with the constant up-selling and the gross lack of professionalism. The animals have gotten out of the cages and seem to be running the zoo, and they aren't doing a good job of it.
- Cons: communication, lack of professionalism, constant upsell, windshield scams.
High pressure sales tactics

Buyer beware! Go to Danny's for the discounted gas and you will get more than you bargained for. We had been once, and had avoided the "extras" they wanted to sell me (can't a guy just get his car cleaned), and had actually appreciated the service. Unfortunately, the second time around was 100% worse. Thought we got the same deal, a wash and a vacuum. Found out at the register that we had orderded not just the $15 wash, but the $75 detail as well. Talk about sticker shock. The "service advisor" (these are the guys with the pads writing things in code that the checkout person interprets) had sold us a carpet shampoo without mentioning the word shampoo. Clean the carpets, yes, but that's what a vacuum does. By the time you pay, the car is in the process, in the line and since this was only our second (and last) time, I didn't know that it went to a different place to get the detail.
But wait, there's more...
I did manage to ask how long the "cleaning" would be, as I had appts to get to. I was told 40 minutes. Half an hour after that time passed, I was told another 30 minutes would be needed. That's right, 1 hour over what they had promised. Instead of being late, I had to take my wet, still dirty car (they do the windows last) with some of the seats and car seats and floor mats piled up in the back, and leave.
Here's the best part...
I got another free detail for my inconvienience. But here's the catch, I have to buy another car wash for $15 to get it. So, to redeem any value in this transaction, I must spend $15 to get another $75 service done to fix the other $75 service that I never wanted in the first place.
I am currently sending in a letter to the corporate offices (sometimes going to the head makes a difference) and I will update this post to reflect how that works out. Basically, if you have nowhere else to go, and no water at your house...I'd still take the dirty car!
- Pros: Thorough wash, wipes down interior, good if you have kids
- Cons: Continually hounded to spend 5 times what you want, and if you don't want it, they sell it to you anyway!
Lazy, Bitchy Workers

I stoped in to the danny's location to fill up and to pick up some smokes. My experience while in the convience store got off on the wrong foot when I had to wait 5 mins at the front register. There were 2 employees on the floor which appeared to be arguing about something and no one attending the register. When I was about to walk out an old lady came up to the counter and said "What do you want." and totally uninterested in helping me. My mouth droped open. Is this any way to greet customers and make them wanna come back. If this is the new standard of customer service for the store then it has slipped to an ALL TIME LOW. I can tell you this as a result of this older team members actions, I will not be returning to this store ever again.
- Pros: The Gas pump worked
- Cons: Argumentive coworkers, dirty grounds, Long wait time at register, Unmotivated staff
