I visited the er in April. They took good care of me but I will not return to this hospital because their billing department is a mess. First I called them to correct my address. This was not passed on to the doctor who cared for me. No one ever called me. I was sent a letter about paying my bill as opposed to a real "bill" for services. I tried to talk to the people in admitting - no luck there. I called them and told them I needed a real "bill". It took 2 or 3 conversations to finally get a bill. I would never recommend anyone going to this hospital because of the hassle of the billing department. After reading the tip by "Allisonsnaz" comments, nothing has changed in 4 years!
Terrible experience in the ER – 5/27/09. Last week my 81 year old father was taken by ambulance to West Valley Hospital in Goodyear AZ. Since I work in a city quite a distance away, he was at the hospital for 2 hours before I arrived. When I did arrive, he said he had been calling for a nurse since he arrived and he was freezing. He was wearing shorts and and unbuttoned short sleeve shirt. He did not have a blanket nor a pillow. I had to ask twice within a 15 minute period before someone came in. An hour later a staff person came in and asked to see my Dad's hospital ID bracelet. He did not have one. When I asked her to follow up she refused and said that was the responsibility of Registration. The lack of care, professionalism and compassion was appalling.
Billing System – I would like to say that my stay was plesant but everything since has been a nightmare. First, they assign you a person to your account there at the hospital. Second, you never receive a "invoice" from the hospital it is sent from the billing company and if you have any questions these people can't help you but they can send you a copy of the invoice, that's it. Third, there is a seperate company yet that takes the automatic payments. Now, keep in mind that none of these people are on the same page and they can't see each other's screens. So, if you have an issue and you discuss and come to a conclusion with your account person - do not take what they say as "correct information" because they can't see all of the billing screens. And billing can't help you because they can't see all of the automatic payment screens. And the automatic payment people can't help you because they can't see your account. So really, they will just keep charging you and charging you - Not recommended at all!!
The staff that helped with my stay was nice but it was not worth the headache of everything to come.
ICU – Fantastic, dedicated service and attention to my son by doctors and nurses alike. He was being constantly observed and attended to. I had and have been kept abreast of every little detail of his care and recovery. I would recommend this hospital to anyone.
