Way overpriced!.
Okay, I'll admit as a mom of four boys, I am a bit of a cheapskate, but value is value. We were lured into Sandbar by the high volume of cars in the parking lot and the outside seating. But, finding kid-friendly seats, ie., ones with backs was a challenge outside so we opted for an inside table. It was a Sunday, which meant that the menu was full price. I'm not sure why restaurants do that, but it's downright annoying. Determined to save money, I convinced my 11-year-old to split the Baja Tacos with me, which were tasty, thought rather cold. The fact that the beans and rice are extra with the meals was also a turn off. Another disappointment came when I practically had to beg the waitress for chips and salsa.THey arrived about 2 minutes before our food. My oldest ordered a beef/chicken fajita which was good, but nothing to write home about, my husband had a chimi which too was good without being spectacular. The other two boys ordered kids meals, which were typical fare. My little guys burger, however, was awfully pink inside. For the price ($60 with tip), we won't be back, at least not on a Sunday.

Great Scottsdale Hangout.
The Sandbar Mexican Grill is located on Gold Dust and Scottsdale Rd behind the California Pizza Kitchen in Scottsdale and serves up some of the best Mexican/Bar food around. If you are there for dinner you really can't go wrong whether you are ordering one of their half pound Angus Burgers and fries, Chicken, Beef, Fish, Shrimp Tacos, or a Great Steak; IT'S ALL GOOD HERE!
During dinner on during the warm weather (read: almost always) it's a great place to bring a casual date and sit outside by the pool or in one of the cabanas. Or you can come down with a group of friends and catch happy hour or a game on one of the many plasma televisions around the place. The service is always very nice and helpful from the servers to the bar tenders to the management.
Another great thing about this place is that you don't have to leave and find some other place to go after dinner because on Wednesdays through Sundays (Open 7 days a week) the place turns into one of North Scottsdale's best hangouts to either come and drink and meet people or to enjoy the dance floor and music provided by the DJ's on Thursdays through Sundays. There is also a pool table and shuffleboard in the back room. Sundays are great for watching football if you can keep your eyes off of one of the many bikini contests that have been known to happen there as well. If you are going to skip dinner and just get there on the weekends for drinks and dancing its best to show up by about 10 or 10:30 to help avoid the lines. If you haven't checked it out yet, go check out the Sandbar located at 10050 N. Scottsdale Rd., Suite 127 Scottsdale, Arizona 85253 or check out their website by googling them to see the place and look at the menu for yourself.
