Eat here in the evevings only.
The curry dishes here are supe rb. The seafood dishes were excellent. Right in the middle of downtown, this place has a great environment. Half the dining is outside which gave the feel of a traditional Thai restaurant. The food was good and I enjoy eating here. It's romantic and quaint with plenty of parking in the rear of the building (which was clean as well). The decor is pretty and they seem to keep a clean organized kitchen. There is a bar for seating right near the kitchen which allows you to watch your food being cooked. The cooking was seamless and the experience was clearly noted. It's a great place to eat in Phoenix. Overall, service is really good and friendly.
On a second visit I went during lunch. This didn't prove to be as good as the first visit. I discovered why. There are two lady chefs at night and they cook the best. The elder man and woman that work lunch adds too much salt. After three times eating here this was my only conclusion I could draw. This place is still better than the other places I tried.
SIMPLY AMONG THE BEST THAI RESTAURANTS, ABSOLUTELY THE # 1 IN THE METRO PHOENIX AREA. IF YOU COMPARE APPLES TO APPLES ABOUT THAI FOOD , I FEEL THIS PLACE IS JUST OUTSTANDING IN TERMS OF QUALITY, PRESENTATION & PRICE. KUDOS TO THE CHEF(S)!!!. THE RESTAURANTS ITSELF IS NOT WHAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER AS "FINE DINING", BUT IF 'GOOD THAI FOOD" IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR, THEN THE WILD THAIGER IS SIMPLY EXQUISITE, NICELY PREPARED, DELICIOUS FOOD !!! WE HAVE BEEN TO OTHER THAI RESTAURANTS AND HAVE NO INTENTION ON GOING BACK THERE AGAIN AS WE HAVE FOUND " THE BEST PLACE" .... THE WILD THAIGER. WHEN WE HAVE COMPANY FROM OUT OF TOWN , WE TAKE THEM THERE FROM NOW ON. WHEN YOU KNOW WHAT REAL GOOD FOOD IS LIKE , YOU WILL NEVER SETTLE FOR THE SECOND BEST, THE WILD THAIGER IS BY FAR HAS THE BEST TASTING & NICELY PREPARED THAI FOOD IN THE AREA. OUR COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF.... SUPERD PAD THAI & GREAT APPETIZER SAMPLER!!
Avoid it. Yuck - the food was not good - at the very least, stay away from the chicken dishes or else be prepared to steadily chew. While the wait staff was good, the food took quite a while to serve. For the price, I wouldn't consider it cheap eats, but more on the medium range. If you're looking for something quick, cheap and good, this is not the place.
Great Thai Food. This is a great little Thai food restaurant. The food is always good and the service is consistent. I would recommend this restaurant, as we have been there many times.
My favorite restaurant in the Phoenix valley..
eals are fresh made and full of flavor. Great variety of foods, mild too spicy and everything in-between. They will gladly tone down or spice up your meal to suit your taste. The soups are very good, try the Tom Ka Gai, fantastic, it takes time to prepare and well worth the wait. The Pla Gung Spicy Thai Prawn Salad is one of my favorites. Try their homemade coconut ice cream, great after a spicy meal, or chocolate cake.
This place can get packed, so plan on it and you wont be upset. I dont mind the wait for a fresh cooked meal.
I have mentioned wait a few times, Id like to clear up that it is not always that way, I have been in and out quickly many a time.
The staff is great, and the owner Ola and her husband Dave are just wonderful.
Enjoy
Good restaurant for Thai food.
My ideal choice for Asian food if you are looking for a restaurant in the downtown Phoenix area near Central Ave. Their lunch menu is like a fast food menu tailored to busy business people so I recommend ordering from the dinner menu but you must call in your order first before arriving.
I ate here for lunch with three co-workers but ordered from the dinner menu. I had tropical fried rice, which was really good. One of my co-workers ordered peanut chicken and it has nice flavor. Another ordered a prawn salad with a sweet vinegar dressing and it tasted good. The environment was definitely like a high-end Thai restaurant(lots of bamboo fixtures) with a bar. Waitresses were really nice and helpful. Good restaurant overall.
Southwest Asian cuisine hits the downtown dining scene..
In Short
Lemongrass, green papaya and coconut milk may not yet be staples of the typical downtown diner's diet--but they soon could be. The bunches who lunch chow down on pad thai, curries and the like in a space decorated with various homeland tchotchkes and a tiger mural painted by the chef/owner herself. The restaurant features an open kitchen and expansive patio. Affordable and convenient for pre-theater and pre-sports dining.
