Service is horrible. I use to love this place, it was the best. I have been there twice in the last two weeks and the service and food have gone downhill. I went there last week for my birthday and it was ruined. I was so upset that I decided to call the manager PHIL what a looser not even an apology. I will never eat at there again!!!!

What a Waste. What a Waste, good food, nice atmosphere, but horrible and I mean horrible customer service. The two managers should be fired. Even the staff there are afraid of them, they act like tyrants.

Shame the Management is so rude. The drinks are expensive at $15 each....the food is good but doesn't make up for the obnoxious manager yelling at the staff all night long and being rude to the customers. Shame on the Richardson family for keeping such a hothead running this restaurant. We were planning on having our 25 wedding anniversary party in their party room, but no thank you. There are plenty of fine restarants where we don't have to listen to the manager treat the wait staff so poorly.

Best Restaurant in Phoenix. The Rokerij is the best restaurant in Phoenix, bar none. Some of the problems in previous reviews have been fixed. The parking lot is extended through to Maryland, so no more valet or limited space. The staff is first rate, restaurant veterans...and the food is awesome. AWESOME! Steve at the cellar bar is one of the BEST bartenders in the valley, the wine list is excellent and very affordable. (Check out the feature entrees and wines on the chalkboards, too. Lots of hidden gems!) Dark, cozy booth-only seating, you couldn't do better for a romantic occasion, and it's easier on the wallet than any restaurant of comparable quality in the valley. What a great spot!

Cozy - Great Weeknight Eats. Cozy and intimate dining with large semi-circle booths and pillows 'o plenty. Features an interesting atmosphere of wood, rock and slate. Very earthy. Smells like a fabulous steak when you walk in the restaurant door. Menu specials are handwritten on huge blackboards... and I believe this is the second restaurant by the owner of Richardson's also on 16th Street. The menu itself is pretty typical, sandwiches, steaks, speciality seafood and a lot of a la carte appetizers. Presentation was nice and server was attentive. Parking appeared to be Valet-only as it is a tiny piece of land... A second bar is located downstairs - spacious and always packed.

Best Food in Phoenix. After hearing about a co-workers Anniversary dinner at The Rokerij, I wanted to see for myself all the positive reviews she had shared.

I made reservations for a Thursday night for two to celebrate a Birthday.

We arrived at the Rokerij about 15 minutes early and were seated right away.

The booths are great whether you are with 6 friends or just the 2 of you. They are oversized and cozy.

After reviewing the menu, I had a hard time deciding what to order. Everything made my mouth water. Our fabulous server recommended the sirloin and brie over toast as a starter. The appetizer was out of this world!!!! I knew that the meal would be even better.

With our entrees came a garden salad that easily filled a large plate. I recommend the house style ranch dressing that has a hint of hot peppered spices.

I order the NY stip which was grilled to perfection. Cooked carrots also filled the plate alongside a green pepper stuffed with mashed potatoes. This alone, I would have died over!!! The green pepper gives the mashed potatoes a flavorful kick that can't be found elsewhere.

For dessert, I recommend the B52. It alone is indescribable and is a must when you dine at this restaraunt.

Overall, the Rokerij has been added to my top 5 favorite restaurants! I left that evening with a full belly but a desire to return the next day. The food, service, and ambiance is simply amazing.

Worst Reservation Policy in Phoenix. This place has the worst reservation policy in Phoenix. They only take reservations for "4 or more" and they totally book the restaurant on weekends. The ONLY option for couples is to sit at the bar... period. We arrived at 6:15 and requested a table but there wasn't anything to be had until 8:45! Of course, no one will wait that long, so couples invariably take a seat at the bar. It's a system to max out the seating capacity of the restaurant, but it is biased against couples who would most enjoy the atmosphere of the cozy dining room. Thus, couples never return. The place is filled with 4-tops and 6-tops. Bottom line: if you're thinking about a romantic dinner for 2, skip it.... you'll be disappointed. But if you want a romantic dinner for 4, this is your place (how weird is THAT?).

MAKE A RESERVATION FOR 4. We waited 1hr 20 min and left because although they only make reservations for 4, common practice is to MAKE a res. for 4 even though only 2 are going to be there. It got at least 2 couples seated before us even though we had been waiting eternally. MAKE A RESERVATION FOR 4, THEY DON'T MIND!

Ratskeller. Ambiance is second to none in the city. The Rokerij salad followed by the Rokerij new york strip steak topped with shrimp and crab meat is absolutely devine.

I recommend eating down stairs at one of the romantic white table cloth covered tables surrounded by the fablous wood burning fireplace. the bar is a great gathering place; very classy with a flat screen TV to view your favorite team bring the victory home.
