Beware ... If you Go!. Four (4) couples went to AH-SO (4-23-2011) before Prom and enjoyed the show as their chef prepared the chicken for the gals and steak for the guys.

However, within the first two hours during Prom, all four guys visited the bathroom having severe diarrhea and the gals suffered stomach aches as one up chucked her meal. It was unfortunate these couples had food poisoning for their important event but with posts like this, alerting others is most important. Whatever it was in the meal at AH-SO that caused all 8 in this group to get ill needs figured out to avoid illness to future patrons at the restaurant. So if you GO, ... Beware!  View Less

Peoria's best kept secret. Just got back from there and I cant tell you how much fun I had and how good the food was. Our chef prepared the food right in front of us and was making us laugh and did some skillful tricks. I suggest you ask for chef Lee :).  View Less View More

FUN EXPERIENCE, GOOD FOOD. I have only been to this restaurant once but would recommend it to anyone. Even if it is just for the experience. The food was great. They seated us with in 10 min. on a Friday night around 7:30pm. They took our drink order right away and our appetizers as well. The sushi was great, they have there own Ah-So sauce that was awsome, I might just go back for that alone! The cook was funny, friendly and very entertaining.  View Less View More

Great show, so-so food.... I only ate here once, so I cannot speak authoratively. But maybe my opinion will matter to someone. I went to this resturaunt during the busier hours on a Friday. I don't know if I had the fortune of choosing a slow weekend to come along when I did, but the wait only turned out to be fifteen minutes at the most. The resturaunt wasn't how I expected. I was hoping for a more traditional Japenese look and found it to be more along the "hip" style of design. (Not the kind of hip that I like, either). Even so, I was willing to look past that.

I've never really had a table top cooked meal before, and I've never sat at a table full of strangers before. It actually didn't seem that big of a deal sitting across from people I didn't know when the chef came out and performed for us. That is where the experience really shines. After serving us some delicious soup, setting our places, and taking our orders, the chef went to work.

The way to describe it is this: Bruce Lee meets cooking. The chef was very entertaining, performing multiple tricks that boggled my mind and made the whole presentation fun to watch. He was very kind, and I liked the idea that you could ask for more food if you wanted it or liked it. He handed out samples indiscriminately, perhaps as a means of showing what the others were missing.

While the preparation was amazing, I was dissappointed in the food. I had ordered the most expensive thign on the menu, which was basically a sample of every seafood morsel they had to offer. I had only tried lobster one other time, and that was at Black Angus. It was so good I craved it since. However, the taste was not light nor as savory at Ah-So. Perhaps it was because it was cooked more with soy or that much oil was used in the preparation. The part I looked forward to the most let me down.

In short, smile and be curteous to the chef for more samples. It is a good show, but the food might disappoint if your hopes are high.  View Less

RUDE!!. I used to eat here at least once a week. For a friends birthday (party of ten) we decided to try out the cooking tables. We went on a Friday night, expecting it to be busy. Were told the wait was about an hour. Which we were willing to wait. After an hour and half we were still waiting. Not once did a hostess come and let us know that the wait would be a little longer. The girls up front were too busy chit chatting, text messaging and eating fast food to care about customers.

After waiting almost two hours we asked to speak to a manager. That didn't help at all. No one seems to know what's going on there. Very unorganized.

Ended up leaving and will never go back.  View Less
