Phoenix Hoi Polloi. Definitely the spot for business clientele and after work relaxation better known as Yuppie Heaven Phoenix style!
Food OK, Slow Service, Bad Business Practices...BE CAREFUL ( "I am a Senator" ).
I dont like that Cheuvront prints out the Customer's WHOLE Credit Card Numbers on the store copy.
I told the owner (ken) that I wasnt comfortable with the credit card numbers being printed out for their copy.....Pointing out the transaction and authorization details are still available and the transaction is in their POS system for any contested charges.
He stated this was all legal, he is "an Arizona Senator" and he checked this issue with wells fargo (didnt state why he chose to check with Wells and I didnt ask)..I did check, he is and his background would seem to indicate he would be simpathetic to a consumer issue, but apparently not.
I had my credit card number used before by a merchants employee (it was even harder then) and it concerns me that the owner (Cheuvront) is indifferent to consumer protection fraud concerns and customer privacy.
Be Careful of your Credit Card Transaction...mark through your numbers or pay cash.
I tried to use my real name for my Identity but was prevented..
WINE and Cheese, WOW!! and great menu. Had a great visit, almost two months ago, and have continued to go ever sense weekly. Saw the reviews on here and completly disapointed. I have a new bottle of wine every time i go back, such a great selection at any price range. Cheese that pairs like no other, and the staff has always been great at pairing up my cheese and wine for the most part. I tried their entrees for the first time two weeks ago and they were as breath taking as there varity of wines for such a small restuarnt. I would recommend this place to any one for an occausion downtown, be it a show, a basketball game, or just on first friday! I have had great experinces and look forward to go again, a server i have alwas enjoyed when i sit down to eat is Josh, he has great suggestions and knows the wine and cheese very well compared to others that work there. That could be the other reviewers problem, hope everyone has a good of a time as i have!!! get the Parmesan encrusted Chicken!!
Inexcuseable service, great wine and cheese (if you have the patience). We live downtown, enjoy many of the nice places to eat and drink and Cheuvront will get one more (and potentially last) chance. We got seated at 5:15 and finally got our flight ordered by 5:45. After deciding on a bottle from the flight, we received our cheese plate, but the bottle we ordered was just sold out (and there were like 4 other tables seated in the house). We order another from the flight, but then let the bartender (our waitor was too busy) that we decided to stay with a reisling. Our waitor brings the original bottle to our table (already opened....) and we let him know that in his 30 minutes away from our table, that we got with the other bartender. We finally got the wine we wanted, however, the other appetiser we ordered, wasn't going to make it (and at this point we were ok with that). No commend from our waitor, he plain forgot about it. We had a great bottle on wine, had a great sampling of cheese, but the service was so painful that we had to catch dinner at Sam's Cafe at the AZ center. Like I said, we will give it one more try, but take my words with caution, the two other comments before me (and mine) look to be more the trend. For solid enjoyable wine and food, go to Bianco Bar (7th St and Washington) or Portlands (2 blocks away).
Avoid this self-absorbed/snooty with spoiled food.
Arrogant and over-priced. Came in at happy hour, ordered Goat Cheese Chix Philo; was "upgraded" to regular price. Greens were wilted and old. Cheese must have been old as well-had intestinal issues all night and morning. House vodka rocks $8.00. Staff paid NO attention, barely a greeting. Bartender and "manager" more interested in tasting their wines.
I was the only customer at 5:15, little wonder.
Horrible Experience. I really do not recommend this restaurant. Even the management staff is not concerned with their customer's dining experience and underestimate the value of advertising 'by word of mouth'. Please do not waste your time or money!
Urban ambience gives this downtown wine bar an atmosphere as cultivated as its wine list..
In Short
The high ceilings and sleek metallic accents of state Senator Ken Cheuvront's gathering spot harmonize with the professionals peppering its tables and couches. In the Genie Room--where a sheer curtain shrouds each table--couples whisper over a wine list teeming with descriptive notes. The staff also suggests wines to complement the appetizers and desserts. Artisanal cheeses are always fresh and vary in availability.
