Don't risk your money -- it will be
down the drain, and they will do nothing to make their sub-par work acceptable. A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM THE START.
Boca-Bargoons demanded money up front to order fabric and start the work. Since I had spent roughly 5 weeks with them in the design process, and I had a big family event at my home in 8 weeks, I gave them the charge card, despite the fact that I was a little wary of the workrooms they used. The manager assured me that she used the same workroom as she had used when working with a Calico Corners (the best in custom upholstery and soft goods work -- and very expensive). She promised me very sweetly that she would make sure I was happy with everything. Now that I have seen the final product, I know it was a lie that the workroom was the same as she had used at Calico Corners. I'm not even sure she actually worked at Calico Corners.
The work was abominable and had several technical problems which were NOT as the work order stated. After trying several times to reach this manager, Brandi, I wrote a Certified Letter to Boca Bargoons outlining the inconsistencies between the work order and the finished product. NO RESPONSE over SEVERAL DAYS TIME. Finally contacted the corporate office in Florida (Lynne Addington),who was apologetic about the problems I had had. Even though I wanted my money back totally, she explained that they would do everything to make the order right. Somehow I trusted her.
After sending the pieces back to Boca Bargoons-Scottsdale to be evaluated for repairs needed by their regional manager, they claim that the work was done as ordered. They see no problems with the Quality of the work. (I see only two truths here now: they are either (1) very bad at their business and do not know what good work should be like, or (2) they are dishonest. Nevertheless, I am out the $3,000+ for the pieces, plus I have yet to receive any of the pieces back after sending them for evaluation and repair. Plus, I had sent my own velvet pillow sham with fabric pinned to it to illustrate the way the trim was to be attached to the pillow shams, and the 96" window seat foam which costs a lot to replace. I have none of these things. In actuality, I will never use the pieces in my bedroom because not only is it unattractive due to the problems with design and construction, but their presence would be a continual reminder of this terrible experience, which has spanned out now over several months.
I'm not usually the kind of person who goes around posting bad reviews about businesses -- I like to take up the problem with the business and get it resolved peacefully, but this whole ordeal has been A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM THE START.
Vast Selection of Fine Home Decor Fabrics. Boca has the nicest fabric selection around with helpful, consumer friendly sales people. They aren't inexpensive, but they are fair; you will be getting great quality for your money. Make the trip here before you buy elsewhere, it's worth your time. The only downside to shopping here is not being able to check out the bolt of fabric as most other stores are now allowing. Whenever I think there is no fabric that works for my room, though. I always find something extra special here.
