Nightmare night at Mastros City Hall !!. We had our choice of 10 restaurants and since My wife had such an awesome time last time we dined at City Hall we brought our friends .We were seated way in the back of the restaurant in some overflow room to the SW of the main dining room . We were greeted by a waiter that was nice than a second waiter came took my wifes wine order and 20 minutes later I had to ask where the 15 dollar a glass wine was ..he apologized and finally served her . we had to ask numerous times for water and our dirty plates sat for 20 minutes before our desserts arrived. To top of the evening they had a private party just on the other side of a partition next to our table that was more like a bachelors party which got so loud at time we couldn;t even have a converstion at our table ..Very VERY rude and the management should of addressed the out of control patrons . All the people eating in our REMOTE section left within 20 minutes of the Wild party getting underway.. VERY DISSAPPOINTED !!! won't be going back !

First less than Excellent Experence. This evening was my forth Dinner @ Mastor's City Hall Steakhouse over the past two years. I travel every week out of the Dallas area and entertain several times on every trip. This was my first dinner at Mastor's that was less than excellent. Their staff is very good and attentive unfortunately the Signature ?Bone in Filet? was not up to par; I hope this evenings dinner was an aberration and not a trend.

Excellent food and atmosphere but beware of upselling!!. The Good: I made the reservation several days in advance. Someone from the restaurant staff called me to confirm the day of and a couple of days after to make sure everything went very well. It was a nice touch. The building is fantastic. It is dimly lit and there is a candle at each table. The decorations, live music and upscale feel of the restaurant allow a unique dining experience. We sat near the back where the entrance to the kitchen is. The tables in this area are, in my opinion, too close together for real private conversation but it didn't bother me. The servers were quick to greet us and cater to our needs. The food tasted great and the portions were large. The staff made sure we had everything we needed.

The Bad:

We ordered a bottle of wine that we recognized was from a little known winery back home (and reasonably priced at $35 per bottle). Instead of bringing the bottle immediately to her thirsty guests, the waitress came back with a single glass of something else and proceeded to try to change our minds to order the wine she suggested. (Now when we were trying to decide earlier, she didn't have any real suggestions) Noticing she did not mention the cost of this alternative wine, I could only guess it was an arm and a leg so I respectfully declined. The stunt had me a little uncomfortable and almost made me ask for the manager. I restrained myself. The issue is: we are there to enjoy ourselves. Not to feel like dodging door-to-door salespeople. They did ask me what kind of water I wanted and from the previous review I knew to ask for tap water. Lastly, they did something every restaurant does: they brought the check when they "thought" we were done and then disappeared. I was ready for another bottle of wine, so much for that. In other countries, bringing the check without the guest asking for it is an absolute insult. Then she took the check before we left. That's another no-no. I will probably go back but will have to set some rules.

NO LONGER GOOD QUALITY. I used to love this place, but ever since last January, the quality of the meat is inconsistent. Inconsistency, in a supposed top-end steakhouse is unacceptable. I used to eat there once a month until January of this year. I have always tipped well and the service has been exceptional until 2008. Mastro's (Owner of the original Cityhall) has sold the corporation last year and it has not been the same since. I would not waste my time paying for supposed top quality steak that is inconsistent. I have never had a problem with Cityhall until January of this year and I have been there over a dozen times. I won't be going back, and will not reccomend this place to anyone.

High pressured sales at it's finest. I guess it is not enough that your dinner for ten will require a second morgage, but the waiters still want more from you. From the moment we walked in the hostess implored us several times to go the bar and order drinks while they were getting our table ready. It was almost like she insisted that we order drinks while we waited!

The steaks are excellent, the ambieance is swanky, but the waiters (and hostess) must go to the best used car salesman school in the country!

If you order one of something, they reccomend two, (which will be sent home with you a in a box) if you order a drink, they assume it is top shelf.

They push this grain fed bone in steak on you like there will be cash and prizes awaiting them in the kitchen when they return.

BE VERY CAREFUL when you order the seafood tower, did you know that appetizer can run up to $160.00 per person (the waiter determines what you get ) The waiter hits the jackpot and you have to go and sell your first born child on the black market.

They automatically serve and charge you for sparkling water unless you request "regular" water.

They of course will refresh your water glasses with as much sparkling water as they can pour if you don't say something. They charge $7.50 per bottle of sparkling water!!! I guess I can see why they do it.

I notice the high pressure sales more when you take a large party there. My guess is that they know people won't question the bill in front of clients or co workers.

My husband took some of his clients there last week. All of these events happened to him.

If you want to spend a fortune and fell like you have been cheated all at the same time you will love this place!

I would not take a large party here ever again.

Be careful! Don't be afraid to say something to them or else they are going to be laughing at you all the way to the bank!
