What a JOKE!!! – You've got to be kidding!! This place is horrible. A co-worker and myself went for lunch on 06-01-11. An early lunch at 11am so there were not many people there. The atmosphere was fine. The food was below standards by far. I ordered the spinach enchilada and two chicken flautas. After an extremely long wait, our food arrived. The enchilada was half the size in the photo, same as the flautas. To be quite frank. I would bet that the flautas (taquitos) were the frozen ones just like you buy at a grocery store. So basically I paid $10.00 for what amounted to $1.00 worth of food. Then add a $2.50 iced tea and $2.50 tip. $15.00 for jack. I would have gone to any of the million "fill n the blank" Berto's and gotten a chicken burrito at least 5 to 6 times the size of what I was served for a mere $4.00. I will never go there again and will make sure no one I know will either. Total rip off. Even the burrito my co-worker ordered for $8.00 was of micro sized. If the quality was off the charts, maybe I could justify paying that much for so little, but for a sit down restaurant, I'd rather eat Taco Bell. I honestly don't know how they get repeat business with such sub-par food.
San Tan location – This review doesn't even deserve one star, but I have to, so it can be published. My visit was so bad, I hope to save other people the trouble from experiencing the same thing. First of all, our wait to get into the restaurant was 30 mins. So, one would think, if there is a wait, the food must be good. Right? So very wrong. The table we were seated at was in a very dark location, the whole vibe of the place was very unappealing. Guess it was a busy night, because kids ate for free on Sundays. Our table was dirty and there was food underneath all the tables in the area where we were seated! That wasn't very obvious in the beginning with the dark room. It was until afterwards, I was more grossed out ! The meal I ordered was the carne asada and it was very bland and just bad. The free meal my child was served was left untouched, because it was burnt! My niece was polite, but she took her food home. In the end, I spent nearly $20 for just my food alone! I was incredibly disappointed and will never visit Arriba's again, anywhere! I will only go to places I know have Real Mexican Food, not chains like Garcia's, Macayo's or On the Border! After we left, we saw a Someburros around the corner. I love Someburros! I have never been disappointed with their food or service ever! I would have paid a lot less and actually enjoyed my meal.
So, so... – This review is for the Gilbert location. I like Arriba's food. It is tasty and I think a great value. My burrito with cheese sauce, rice and beans was $10. We have been there 3 times in the past month. The first 2 experiences were great, great service, great food. Last night, the server was just plain awful! He hated his job you could tell. Instead of saying, " Would you like a refill on water?" He said, "Do you want me to take your water?" What is that? Next they messed up the type of meat I chose in my burrito not once, but twice. We have a one year old and those with kids konw you only have a limited amount of time they will sit in a high chair. My husband ended up taking him out while I finished my meal by myself. The server kept telling us it was the kitchen staff and they were "dumb" and "stupid". He said he put my order in right so it wasn't his fault. I think he kept saying this so he would still get a tip. The lady next to us ordered the same thing I did and they messed her's up too. If the manager would have come by we would have told him about our experience. I was surprised that after 2 messed up meals it was not taken off our bill.
I would go back, becuase the food is great, hot, fresh. I would be sure and ask who our server was before we got seated so we wouldn't get this guy again.
Horrible Servers (TWICE!!) – I normally love Mexican food. I have gone to the newest Arriba twice (in Gilbert). Each time, the server forgot my chips, got my order wrong, and was generally inattentive. Where do they find these people, in a high school auditorium? Do they even interview these people for experience? Do they even provide training? Do they call references on these people? The utterly bad service was so distracting, it really detracted from my dining experience. I think that it even gave me indigestion. The management needs to take a better look at hiring better, more experienced and attentive staff. If not, they will loose more customers than I. Stay away at all costs!!!
Major improvement in service! – OK folks great news, not only is the food still fabulous but now the service matches! We had a group of 20 from our office go for lunch yesterday, got there at 11:30 & by 1pm we happily left stuffed & with to-go boxes (even from the lunch menu which featured "smaller" portions). We did have reservations for our group, were seated promptly, beverages brought quickly after ordering and were kept full throughout the meal. Food arrived hot, delicious and the entire order was correct, not one snafu. Prices also very reasonable. How can you lose?
i love arriba's food but agree service is not so great but GOOD NEWS EVERYONE.

Good Food, Bad Service – I've eaten at two of Arribas restaurants and while I LOVE the food, the service is way below par. Not sure why, but the wait staff appears to think of customers as an intrusion into their day. For one lunch, some of my co-workers went to Arribas in Scottsdale, and had a difficult time getting in and out in an hour. The waiter wouldn't even look our way while we waited and waited for our food. Needless to say, we were late getting back to work.
The food is outstanding, especially if you like New Mexican style food, and if you like spicy. The habanero salsa is my favorite in the world. But go there only if you have a LOT of time and don't mind being ignored by the wait staff.
Yeah, gotta agree with the others I read... – I went to the one on Chandler and 48th St. The food is good, especially if you like spicy. For that I give them credit. The service wasn't particularly slow, but the help did seem like I was a nuisance to them. He frowned, didn't say "hello" after I said "hello." At one point my wife wanted something extra, but we didn't feel comfortable asking the waiter for anything. We just ate what we had, paid and left. They need to hire people that like their job. I know they exist, Mimi's Cafe is full of people that like thier job, or at least act like it when you eat there. The food is okay, it's not large portions, but it does have good flavor. I like the White Sands Chimi, but the rice and beans are just filler.
Bad Food Bad Service – food was cold waited for service x-mas day 20 minutes before we some one arrive asked what we like to order , we order fajitas took another 30minutes food was left on the table with no silver ware another 10 minutes to ge them food was not very tastie manager on duty not very helpfull she did not want to be there x-mas day nor cared about the customer.. would not recomend this place unless every restaurant in phoenix was closed down.
Horrible service... again – I've eaten at 3 of the 4 restaurants over the years and they've consistantly had horrible service. Like another reviewer, I've had servers be astonishingly rude to me when a problem is brought to their attention. The manager at the restaurant in Scottsdale actually had to tell a server not to go near my table anymore because she kept making rude comments under her breath everytime she passed by! The latest dissapointment: Hostesses unprofessional and bickering with each other, ordered a hatch chile cheese crisp, arrived w/out the chiles, they took it away, 5 min later our food arrived, still no cheese crisp. My Mother's fajitas were wrong, supposed to be ranchero style. Manager finally comes by, we explain the situation, she tries to smooth things over by, get this, not charging us for the cheese crisp that we didn't even eat! Gee, thanks! Pathetic.
