Much improved with new management. I agree with some of the other reviews. Prior to the new management coming in (my visit was in January 2008), we had spotty service. Seemed the restaurant was always closed or reserved for some function so you couldn't rely on it. But the other night, my friend and I went for a light dinner and wine. The wine list was reasonable and the Riesling (sorry, but that's my preferred wine) was excellent. We shared a hummus appetizer which was very good. She got the spanokopita and thought it was so good that she wouldn't share it. I wanted the gazpacho, but they were out, so I got the tomato basil. The soup was a little thicker than I like it but the taste was excellent. Our server was charming and prompt. There were probably a half dozen other customers there and we were served within 10 minutes of our arrival, just enough time to sip our wine. If you were unhappy before, give it another try under the new management.

GREAT FOOD & AMBIANCE. Tasty and healthy Mediterranean food! Great prices and the ambiance is fantastic too. Go see for yourself!

Happy to See New Owner and Menu. I am glad they finally opened a restaurant like this in downtown Phoenix. I've been waiting for some time.

Their humus is incredible. Their prices are really inexpensive for the quality of food. I had the Beef Shawarma, the best of this kind I have ever had. My friend has the Fetooch salad, which was also good.

I'm sure every restaurant has growing pains when they first open. I'm sure they'll work out the server issues.

But all in all the food is excellent and well worth getting in and trying!!!

Wouldn't Go Before the Show. We arrived at 6:40 before an 8:00 PM concert at the Orpheum on Friday, November 16. We were seated promptly and water was brought right away. The menu had a nice variety. My red Zinfandel was reasonable but a little pricy for unrecognizable label and my glad had lipstick smudges. My friend's Pinot Noir was too young- not worth the price. Our server was friendly. Our hummus and pita appetizer was tasty. That?s the best I can say. Our server couldn?t recommend any of the main courses because she didn?t eat meat or seafood and hadn?t tried the only salad about which we asked. The appetizer took 20 minutes to arrive. Our dinners (the burger and gyro specials of the house) took another 25 minutes beyond that. There were only 6 tables seated when we walked in so I couldn?t understand the delay. Overall, we were very disappointed in the service. The couple who came in after us were waited on before us. We overlooked it and didn?t even mention it to our server, who seemed to be the only one on duty. I specifically asked if I could get my burger cooked medium. Our server said yes but it arrived dry and much too well done- and then without any condiments. The accompanying tomato was unripe, the lettuce wilted and the bun greasy. The onion slice was fine as were the garlic fries. We asked for ketchup and mayo, they brought ketchup and mustard. This place, about a half block from the theatre, seemed like a nice close place by for a bite before the concert. We barely made curtain! I hate to think how this place would be if they were busy. Phoenix needs much better service and more places for dinner before a show. Over all, I?d give this place 4 stars for their menu variety and reasonable food prices and 2 stars for their wine selection and prices. Service deserved only a half star this night.

waste of time and money. Went there for my B-day, and what a let down. When we walked in there were 3 couples there already, when we sat down, it took almost 30 minutes to get our order taken, then waited another 30 minutes for our food. The waiter couldn't tell us what deserts they have, and had us walk over to the desert counter, the Gelato case had no names on them, so how are you to pick them out... We ordered coffee in a French Press, the water was warm at best. The waiter never can over to ask how the food was. The food was good, but my entree was very dry, it really needed some sort of sauce.

So in a nutchell, avoid this place and walk acouple of blocks to the AZ center and have a excellent meal there.

Save your money!. In a nutshell, this place is AWFUL!! The service was terrible, even though we were only one of two tables in the restaurant. We sat outside, which gave us a great view of at least six different waitsaff members leaving the restaurant to go smoke in the alley next door. Service was terrible, slow, and unattentive. The prices are not at all a good value for what you get - a $9 bottle of wine on the menu for $34? C'mon! As for the food, it should have taken note when we walked in and ALL of the un-bussed plates on the tables were still full of food.

Cool place, great food!. I had a wonderful experience at 101 Bistro. The people were friendly and helpful and the food was great. The restaurant is delightful. A great ambience adds to the overall dining experience. If you haven't been there, it's worth the try!

Great Location but that's about it!. This restuarant is in a great location but is not living up to its potential. Not sure if the owner has ever even worked in a restuarant. No clear entrance to restuarant. The tables were spaced very closely together. No real flow through the restuarant.

Slow service. Out of house wine by glass on Saturday night. Small portions and not a real interesting menu. We left hungry and wanting more.
