Starting to cut corners.
We've been going to Maharaja Palace since 2001. It has always been a bit overpriced, but the food quality allowed us to justify it. Recently however, the portion sizes have decreased to the point where we leave feeling a bit cheated. For example, the Chicken Tikka Masala used to contain well over 6 oz of chicken in 1" pieces. In the past few months, this has decreased to less than 3 oz of chicken in 1/2 inch cubes. It still tastes great, but there has to be enough of it to justify the high prices. You can expect to pay around $50 to $60 per couple to dine here. The decor is minimalistic and the restaurant is now beginning to show signs of deferred maintenance, such as torn seats and worn carpet.
The people are nice, but the service is slow and indifferent. All in all, we are extremely disappointed to see a place we've enjoyed go downhill.

Out of Eggplant.
We drove 5 hrs because this restaurant is fantastic!! We get here with our mouths watering for their eggplant dish and they are out of eggplant!! How can this be? There's a Walmart next door! We were devestated! Stock up on food!

Great Food!.
We are new to the Phoenix area and went to Marharaja last night with friends. We found it to be a really good Indian restaurant. The wait staff were all very friendly and helpful. We all had something different, and everyone was very pleased with what they ordered. We all agreed that we would go back again soon. Service was a little slow, but not bad enough to be a problem for us. Clean, but not much atmosphere; however, the food is what counts!

Yum!
I have to say that before I went to Maharaja I had been terrified of touching Indian cuisine due to a bad experience I had at a restaurant in Boston. (can't remember the name sorry) But Maharaja has opened my eyes and stripped the memories from my tastes buds with its tasty food. The service is typically up to par. Since I've been to Maharaja, to my dismay, the other Indian restaurants in PHX have paled in comparison.

Average to Above Average.
Considering the rest of the Indian restaurants in the valley, this is somewhere in the middle. It's much better than Royal Taj, Pasand, Priya and Taste of India but it's falls far short of the best which is Delhi Palace, India Palace and Jewel of the Crown. The problem with this restaurant is it's atmosphere and quality. The restaurant is dirty and it has a bit of an odor. The tables cloths are dirty. My wife and I crave Indian food and we would rather drive 30 minutes to India Palace and some of the other restaurants than dine at Maharaja Palace because of the smell and dirty feeling. Also, they are kind of cheap in regards to takeout. We ordered 3 naans and they clearly ripped us off. The chicken tikka masala was good but it could have been better. It's not a bad place if you are considering takeout but just don't dine there and realize there are far better places in the valley.

Fabulous Service and Great food all in ONE!.
This is in our neighborhood which makes it just that much nicer! The owner and his staff are all so friendly and eager to please, not to mention that the food is the Best!! We've eaten Indian food in several locations both in and out of Phoenix, and this one is by far our favorite! Even their 'plain' rice is better than most 'specialty' rice in other restaurants.
Don't let the decor fool you! This is one of those places you tell you friends to come to. Bring out of town guests too, especially the ones who haven't had a chance to have Indian food before. Bring them to the buffet. They can get a wonderful sampling of the fare.
Being vegetarians while some of our friends and family isn't makes this an even better choice! Everyone gets to have what they want, meat or not, and the flavors are outstanding in either instance.

Good food, good service.
Introduced my 8 year old to authentic Indian food here in this relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely go back for the buffet and to get full exposure!

Great taste!.
Having lived in India for two years I was very happy to find a restaurant in Glendale that had excellent Indian food! Awesome taste.
The atmosphere is so-so, but the server was very friendly and nice. The prices were good too.
It is the kind of place you want to go to when you don't feel like cooking and you want great Indian food. Very low key.
