Arizona's window to its Native American past and present. – In Short
The museum's Spanish colonial-style, two-story compound houses more than 32,000 ethnographic objects and contemporary works of art, 10 separate gallery spaces, a 400-seat auditorium, an education center and an indoor-outdoor cafe. Ancient and contemporary works by Zuni, Hopi, Navaho and Apache Native American tribes are on display in the museum. Find examples of intricately woven baskets and rugs, finely detailed and masterfully crafted kachina dolls, stunning canvas paintings, jewelry, clothing and other pieces.
Ritsub – I had the privilege of visiting the Heard during the Native American Craft Fair in early March. Visiting the museum and seeing the exquisite artifacts gave me a true picture of Native American culture: its diversity, complexity, compassion and beauty. I think it's a MUST-SEE for all of us who grew up watching westerns and getting a totally wrong impression of America's first nation. In addition, the facility itself is gorgeous: scultpures, fountains, gardens. A perfect, perfect place.
A INTRESTING HISTORY MUSEUM – I BEEN HERE,THIS MUSEUM IS OUTSANDING !
IT HAS INTRESTING FACTS ABOUT NATIVE AMERICANS,HOW THEY LIVED IN ARIZONA AND ITS GOOD FOR CHILDREN TO LEARN ABOUT HISTORY OF THE OLD WEST.
A chance to see our past – Beautiful exhibits. I get a peaceful feeling as I walk through this museum.
