PeiWei Reopens on Shakey Ground. So Pei Wei re-opened!

In case you missed the drama or are just returning back from the "colder" states, some of the PeiWei restaurants - FH included - were raided and alleged to be (unknowingly ;) employing illegal aliens. So they closed down.

Happy Day today when I drove by and saw they had reopened! 'Mad' day, one hour later, when I entered, ordered and ate and found that those "illegals" apparently took all the recipes with them.

The whole vibe is different when you walk in. When the 20-something "manager" caught me looking for the giant, colorful wall-menu that was their trademark, he scoffed, "It's the same as the paper menu." (eye roll)

When I asked, "What are your specials?"

He replied with the same disregard, "We don't have any."

"Nothing featured?" / "Nope."

In terms of food, the spring rolls were doughy and failed to include any dipping sauces. The Teriyaki dish was dry and lacked teriyaki. And the Garlic Chicken - the "Crunchy Garlic Chicken" was.. I don't even know what it was. It was so bland and and so soft with such poor flavor and presentation, it was inedible. I mean really, you're gonna serve this?

In conclusion, if you want Asian on the fly, save yourself some money and go to Panda. It's now officially better than this. If you want a sit-down experience of the sort, you might want to skip it entirely. Sadly, it's not even close to being up to par.
