Fantastic!. This place simply rocks! The MOST expensive platter is under $19...a steal for food of this quality! The house specials are expecially worthy. Los Mejores De La Casa is divine and the Papas Con Chile is excellent! Unfortunately you can only make reservations for large parties and this can lead to an hour+ wait..especially in winter. So don't be too hungry when you arrive!
prefer loud & bright? come on in. the accustics are awful. could not hear the person across the table for me, but i could hear every other conversation in stereo. the sheer volume of the restaurant is enough to send anyone to the audiologist. service....bleh. but if i had to work in that environment, maybe i too would be so over-stimulated i too could not give good service.
Fabulous. Great Mexican food at great prices. Nice ambience and goo service. What more could you ask for? How about the best tamales.
Abuelo's is the way to go. Having lived in the Phoenix Metro area since 1979, my idea of "Mexican Food" was your typical chain restaurant. I was skeptical the first time I was invited to go, but that one time was all it took. Their margaritas have liquor in them, their chips are thin and crispy, and the salsa is the best I have ever tried. The beautiful decor and original music make for a wonderful ambience. The service we received rivaled some of the best restaurants in town. I have dined there at least once a week since they opened in Peoria. They also opened by some friend's house in Chandler and also in Scottsdale.
a good experience. I dont know what place the single mother who submitted a bad review on this site went to but it wasnt here. The menu is not the run of the mill. The food was excellent and there was a lot of it. The service was good. The prices were a lot lower than I expected for the type of quisine they serve. I had the Mahi Mahi and it was fresh and delicious! Our out of state visitors were very impressed. We plan to return often.
This place is awesom. I eat at this resturant 2 or 3 times a month. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is great, and the food is better. Abuelo's should be much higher in the list. Also, try gardunio's, they have some of the best tex-mex and mexican in the state. Locations in Chandler and Scottsdale.
You call this mexican food?. I heard alot about this restaurant. How beautiful the place was, how good the food was, and a great price. Well, I am a single mom of two and the value of the meals was attrocious! It cost me $35.00 for three meals, but the price was not the worst of it. They were stingy on the chips and salsa, also on the food placed on an oversized plate. If you aren't going to give people very much food then you should put it in a smaller plate to at least make it look bigger. The tacos were made with ground beef so heavily seasoned with chili powder that they tasted as though they were made with hormel chili, and then shells were prefabs not freshly fried with the meat inside. The enchiladas were more of the same just covered with sauce. No thanks we won't be going there anymore.
