We left and there was a homeless man sitting on a bench, I gave him a dollar, all I had. We went to the cake store a few stores down and when we returned to get our car I turned the corner to find the owner grabbing the homeless man by his shirt and telling him "get the F*** out of here" The homeless man said "Please don't touch me, I could press charges against you" The owner said "I could crack your F****** skull in" and pushed the man away while the owner was holding a bottle of wine, looking threatening. My husband said leave that guy alone and we said a few explitives of our own. The owner called my husband a F*** face and told us we would not be welcome at the restraunt again, as if we would ever go back. We left and called the police . Do not ever go this place because of the disgusting owner.
Worst Service Ever!!!!. Let me tell you what made our visit so Great!!! The waitress came to get our drink order after only waiting 15-20 minutes. She told us that we were lucky that she did not forget our food, when it was presented. She never once came back for refills or to check on us...in fact she didn't know whether she was coming or going. When all was said and done she gave us the wrong check. When we realized this we asked the manager to help out. We are not sure if he was more confused than she was. He wound up charging my credit card double and told us we would have to wait the 15 day pending period until it was removed. He did not apologize for the terrible service. He is the problem at this establishment!!!
Awesome Sushi & Amaizing Energy. I have been going to Sushi Brokers for over 3 years. Right now it is the best I have ever seen. The Sushi is the best fish in Scottsdale. The staff is all quick to greet us and seats us as soon as there is a table available. If you go to Sushi Brokers in the evening, make sure you ask to meet the manager Shawn. Shawns personal attention makes the experience even better. I say take all your friends, family, and co-workers for happy hour at least once. You will want to go back.
Bad overpriced sushi, uncomfortable seating, slow service. My husband and I visited once and will never return. it was a weekday afternoon and the restaurant was busy but not packed. Our server was slow to show up at the table and take our drink order, slow to bring the drinks, and VERY slow to bring the food (whether that was her fault or the sushi chefs, we couldn't tell. I know it takes time to make sushi, but this was ridiculously long for some nigiri and a roll. When we got it, the fish was mediocre at best. The tuna tasted like it had been frozen and thawed, and most of the other fish was rubbery and tasteless. Recommended instead: Yasu Sushi Bistro (better fish, better service, better atmosphere, better price), Sapporo (better fish, better service, similar price), Zen 32 (better fish, better service, better price).
BEST ATMOSPHERE IN SCOTTSDALE!!!. Honestly hands down my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale. I travel on business to Scottsdale every month and ALWAYS stop in here at least once. The Sushi is not only better than what I eat in LA, but the prices are awesome too. The place is always packed and jamming away to good music. The staff is hands down the most attentive and polite staff you will find anywhere in scottsdale (especially other Sushi restaurants!) I would highly reccomend this place to anyone. And ask for Alicea, she is the best!!!
i will never go here again!. so when we got there the hostess desk was empty. no one was there to gtreet us and seat us or to seat ourselves. there were 4 employess all talking w/ each other and not coming up to us. so we sat ourselves. after sitting there for ten minutes and no one speaking to us yet we left. there were only three other tables there. it was not busy. I am a server myself and know how it is in this industry. all 4 girls sat there and were talking to each other and looked at us and walked past us w/ out even stopping to greet us or get a drink order. I will never go there again. This was the second time it has happened.
Mistaken Identity. Wow!! Ive been going here religously for the past four years! This is not only the hipest, the cleanest, and the most well ran sushi bar in all of Scottsdale. I'm posittive the last reviewer mistook RL Miller for the GM, Todd Hall who had worked there a couple years back (he even told me he was the owner once). The staff is polite and professional and they have AWESOME food!! The happy hour is cheap, fast, and always packed. I didnt know it till last week but every Sunday and Monday all wine bottles are half off too.
The most "relaxed" sushi place in scottsdale....if you gotta be in scottsdale.. Like it says in the comment below it seems to be more of a sushi-club but that's okay if you want a little more excitement than a menu. The last happy hour I went to had a mix of the standard anti-social scottsdale clones and some normal friendly people...so I'm grateful to even have that considering the area. The rolls and calimari are good...pass on the sushi and sashimi...not the freshest or the tastiest. The music can be a little too loud so you'll have to raise your voice to have a conversation depending on where you sit. Service isn't amazing...like what you'd expect at a busy scottsdale bar/club. Sakanas in scotts has much better food and prices but the last time I went there kids were running around the place like a mcdonalds playland. So what are your options really?
Honest review- the good and the bad.
I have been going there since it opened. The truth is that the staff has never been the best part of the visit. The sushi is my favorite in the valley next to RA and Sakana. The Hawaiian Roll is the best: crab mix and cucumber inside with salmon, mango, and a sweet clear drizzle on top. That roll is the ONLY reason I go there. The whole place has a 'bad' vibe, pretentious Scottsdale crowd and slow wait staff. I used to really enjoy it and I loved sitting at the bar with a friend, I don't really know what changed. Maybe I never noticed all the rude people before! I have resorted to usually getting sushi to-go. Bottom line is that the sushi is creative, so if you like more than the basics you will definitely enjoy the rolls. Just be prepared to take your time, not good if your in a hurry. It can still be fun if your in the mood for a drink and a club atmosphere, because that is what it reminds me of now... a small club that serves sushi. I recommend going for lunch for a more relaxed feel. It is worth trying, service is better at the bar because they can't ignore you when your sitting in front of them! Too bad about the owner, I might have to find a replacement for my Hawaiian Roll.
Sakana is a very good alternative with a less pretentious crowd, they have good sushi and a friendly staff. There are a few locations in the valley, Glendale and Scottsdale.
Great Sushi, Happy Hour Prices and Service. Wow...I am floored by the negative reviews about the owner and the service. Every time I have visited Sushi Brokers (6+ times, at least), the service has been great; the prices have been reasonable; and the sushi has been awesome. My friends and I tend to get there on the early side, so we can get a seat (around 4 PM or so); maybe that is the secret? We love the ambiance, and specialty sushis (Cowboy, D*mn Good). I was last there on my birthday, April 19, and the waitress was SO sweet and wonderful. We ordered lots of sushi, and for a birthday dessert (free of charge), she brought out a HUGE piece of Strawberry Daiquiri cheesecake...possibly the best cheesecake I have ever had. I will continue to go there for sushi, because it is my favorite, but wow!, I had no idea the owner was so out-of-control!!!
