Atmosphere rules at this French New Orleans-themed spot that serves traditional American fare..
In Short
Decorated like a French country bistro with jazzy New Orleans overtones, Mimi's Café was named after a lost love of Arthur Simms, who started the restaurant in 1978 in Anaheim, Calif., with his family. The ambience could only be upstaged by the menu filled with traditional American favorites. Breakfast includes omelets, waffles, muffins and fresh-squeezed juices, while lunch and dinner feature comfort-food classics like pot pie and pot roast, deli-style sandwiches, burgers, pastas, steaks and salads.
not worth it any more. Small portions, not garnish on plates, changes in ingredients make me very unhappy with Mimis. They were once very good. Tried it again yesterday and spent 70.33 for three people and were very unhappy with the food and portion, The waitress said that everyone is complaining.
Mimi's is no longer the quality restaurant it has been.
I am an excellent cook, and when I eat out, I chose my restaurants with care. I have been a very satisfied customer of Mimi's Cafe for a number of years. It has been one of my favorite places to invite people to have dinner with me because of their excellent quality, prices, and choices. I loved their blue crab cakes, and that has been my main reason for eating at Mimi's. Today I dropped by to pick up an order of blue crab cakes to take home with me. I discovered that the menu has beem changed drastically and limited in what it has to offer. The portion sizes have been reduced; soup and salad no longer come with the dinner, but rather one has to pay extra for them, and now one gets two crab cakes instead of three. Worse of all, they have added lump fish in the crab cakes. It tasted fishy and not of blue crab at all. I come from Maryland so I know what a blue crab looks like and know its taste well.
I met a friend at the Cafe who also complained about the prices and limited choices. She and her family won't be going back there (6 people), and two other people asked me today if I could recommend Mimi's and I frankly said I could no longer do so (add three more people). While waiting for the Dial-A-Ride van to pick me up, one of Mimi's staff told me that many people have complained about the change in menu and the exorbitant prices. I won't be going back again in spite of the wonderful ambiance and wonderful service; I image none of my 15 other family members will either since their tastes are similar to mine. If Mimi's wants to go out of business, this is an excellent way to do it. From just two dissatisfied customers, Mimi has potentially lost about 23 customers in the course of one hour. Congratulations.
I agree's with MiMi's. MiMi's was excellent. By far the best breakfast place in the US. Everything is freshly cooked and doesn't look like it has been sitting back in the kitchen for a long time. The service was great also!
MIMI"S IS YUMMY. WONDERFULL SITTING NICE PEOPLE GREAT FOOD I WILL GO AGIAN
great food & service. we always receive good food and they have very nice employees
Morning w/Mimi's. Mimi's was a good-sized cafe, beautiful design and the seating area outside was really nice. The menu had creative, delicious and reasonably priced menu items.
breakfast?.
Had breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mimi's. Great food for lunch and dinner but breakfast? Smallest portions in AZ. Scrambled two means scrambled one medium size egg. I picked up all of the egg with one forkfull.
Can't understand why lunch and dinner portions are plentiful but they skimp on breakfast.
Best pumpkin muffins ever!. Mimi's offers a wonderful selection of breakfast items, all prepared fresh and hot. The service is excellent, the atmosphere cozy. The pumpkin muffins are out of this world.
excellent. We have eaten there several time in the past year and have taken many different people with us, it is about 30 miles from our home but we still find time to go and enjoy
