Just like Christmas - never know what to expect

by incowboy

This refers strictly to the Casa Grande location. I have been there multiple times and last week was the LAST time I will ever go! The consistency (meaning prepared the same way) of the food is nonexistent, much like the service. I took some family members there and bragged about the food and got burnt (meaning it looked as if I was a liar). Almost everytime I go, the food is prepared differently and I am always told, "Well we do go through a lot of Chefs." I had to get up and get the drinks for the table after they sat at the end of the bar for almost 10 minutes, yes I did time it. My girlfriend had to get up to get us plates because our waitress kept disappearing. Just stay away from this location!

  • Pros: Great atmosphere
  • Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE

Did Not Even Stay for the Food

by teraokae

As a point of reference, my fiance and I are third generation Japanese-Americans so it is difiicult for us to find Japanese food that compares to what our parents and grand-parents made. However, we have been customers most of our lives and the service we received is hard to categorize.

We arrived about 6:30pm on a Saturday night. The first thing I noticed was that the restaurant appears divided between the teppanyaki side and the bar-tables-sushi bar side. The hostess station seemed a part of the teppanyaki side. We stood there for a few minutes as the waitresses rushed between teppanyaki tables and the back. A couple times they glanced our way, but did not seat us until after about five minutes (nay have been less), a waitress assumed we wanted to sit at the teppanyaki tables. We told her we wanted to sit at the tables on the other side and have the food brought out to us. We were not quite rudely told to seat ourselves.

Once we sat down, a waitress came by to get our drink orders. I asked if we could get the dinners served on this side and was told yes. This waitress very pleasant, however, after she brought our drinks, we did not see her until we left.

We waited about 15 for the original waitress to return and take our order, but it was another waitress. She was pleasant, but had to ask someone if we could get dinners on that side of the restaurant. She was told yes, but asked if we would please go to the teppanyaki side, which we were trying to avoid. At that point we decided to leave.

We did not leave because of terrible service; we have experienced far worse. We left because we wanted to sit at a table by ourselves. We made a mistake in thinking they catered to that.

While SOME of the staff only seemed borderline rude, it was the service (wait time, wanting to eat at a table by ourselves) that made me want to leave. It was just not the type of restaurant I thought it was.

I WOULD like to try it when they are not so busy.

  • Pros: Parking, Staff not unfriendly
  • Cons: Did not advertise that it was teppanyaki OR sushi bar only

If you just want to try the food and fall in love with it, try their lunch, between 11-3. Prices are half than what the dinner prices are ($14 on up.) Ask to sit at the grill too, then you can watch the chef's prepare the food in front of you.

  • Pros: Excellent Taste, Lunch Never Crowded
