Female Friendly – I'm female and have always felt welcome at Glen Lakes. I agree the mats aren't the best for practice surfaces but it's sure nice when it's hot and the misters are on. The distances are female friendly and the staff has always been welcoming to me. Dave Swartz, the pro, always includes me in the the monthly tournaments. The guys that I have been paired up with have always been fun! I think if you have had a disappointing time give it another try but wait until the winter grass is in. Its a good place to work on your short game and a good value! Try one of the monthly pro tournaments you will have a good time!
Had a good time – My son and I played there for the 1st time on Saturday about 2 weeks ago. Nice people. The course is challenging enough for us hackers with it's variety and layout and open enough to let you make a few mistakes. They have glow golf a couple times a month at least during the summer, that's fun if you haven't tried it.
We enjoyed our round.
Not Female Friendly!! – I went to this course for the first time and was extremely disappointed. I went into the pro shop and I don?t think they like women there because the guy behind the counter was completely inappropriate and the regulars in the shop were trying to get out before me. The Driving Range is only off of MATS that are hard as a rock. I played the course and it?s completely dry and the greens are in terrible shape. Do yourself a favor, practice in your back yard instead of wasting your time here.
A nine-hole city course with a little bit of everything. – In Short
There's no par-5, but there's six par-4s and three par-3s. This City of Glendale municipal golf course is no pushover--not with two of the par-3s over 200 yards, and several par-4s over 400 yards. Adding to its stature, it hosted Tiger Woods' clinic for kids in January of 1999 as part of the Phoenix Open festivities. With a full-scale learning center, the course is part of an American Golf program that offers free lessons.
