What a great meal!. The menu has changed at this rest. They have a lot of shared light bites that are to die for! I had the filet with and it was so tasty. I normally have a steak sauce. This steak did not need anything. It was PERFECT! I am in the area for business. I had heard that this was a great restaurant, but mainly for a special occassion. All the tables were full with casual clad guest. Between the price, food quality and view. I would mke this restaurant a choice for every day. CDS washington

Bad start to a New Years Eve. evening. We had dinner at top of the rock for New Years Eve. The service is very poor. Took us 15 min. before server came 2 our table. For $ 85 a person we had a 4 course dinner. We were ther 55 min before we got our salads (should have had appetizer first, another server took it to the wrong table). I had to signal our server to see where our appetizers were. She went ahead and got our salads 15 min. later cause they were out of crabcakes & it would be another 5 min. for them. In between each course we waited atleast 30 min. After looking around I could see other customers frustrated also. Over all from time of arrival we were leaving there 2 & half hrs later. We decided because the gtatuity is included in meal, the service really didnt matter. I do have to give kudos to the chef, the food was worth the wait. To bad the service didn't match. The place wasnt that busy, but you think for a holiday the kitchen would have been better prepared.

Birthday tradition. We have made the Top of the Rock our birthday tradition for the past year. Everyone looks forward to their "moment" in the limelight as the staff takes extra special care to be sure they are having a memorable time. With such a wide variety of excellent food, there is something to please everyone. This time, think we'll try a limo so no one will have to be DD and we can all enjoy our champagne.

Smoking Waitress. It was a special night on the town for me and my lady. We had reservations and were dropped off a few minutes early by our driver. The restaurant was beautiful and empty. I thought great, but quickly found out that it was not so. The hostess barely greeted us, but requested we wait a few minutes. So we did. We were the only ones in the restaurant when we were seated and to my displeasure we were seated at a table without view. I did not say a word because everything I wanted to look at was seated at my table already. When our waitress came over to the table she smelt fresh from the smoking lounge. My date and I are non-smokers and found the stench unappealing. We both ordered Peach Martinis. Neither of us were able to take more than a few sips. They were awful. Salads came. Ceasar salad was ok. I prefer the Ceasar anywhere else and The Top of the Rock salad was oily, I'm not sure how, but it was not good. I had the steak Dianne. It was very good. My date had sea bass. It was too fishy and the rice was mushy and not in a good-to-eat way. Dessert was the only saving grace. Creme Brulet. It was devine. I will never go back. The service was ok if you are able to get past the cloud of smoke, and the food was just not enough boom for your buck.

Slow Service. The environment was nice, but service was VERY slow. It took forever to get our drinks...appetizers and even the bread! The main dishes were nothing too special but very $$.
