dishonest to people with allergies. was told over the phone and promised at the counter that they offered gluten free. they absolutely lied. will never eat here again and will tell everybody in earshot to do the same. with missed work, my experience at thai basil cost aprox $200. not worth it. this is the worst bout of gluten poisoning ive had in over a year

Thai Basil is da bomb!!. Thai Basil has been a neighborhood favorite since it opened a couple yrs ago. Small, and cozy, but perfect for a quaint dinner with a friend or even by yourself. Start by ordering a Thai Ice Tea, probably the best in town, it's sweet and velvety refreshment is perfect for AZ summers. Regardless of the heat outside, a must have is the Tom Ka Gai (coconut soup)! A smooth delicate soup that will satify any appetite. Try it with tofu, and a side of jasmine rice for more substance, and it's a meal in itself. The waitstaff is incredible! They are friendly, polite and quick, and after going a few times they begin to know you by name, and even memorize your usual dining fare. A staple for each trip is the Pad See Ew, which you can order with your favorite protein. It's sweet and mildly (or severly) spicy, with thick noodles ribboned with egg and veggies. Don't come to Thai Basil and order Fried Rice, come here for the noodle dishes, and curries (also incredible). Top off your meal with an order of FBI - Fried Bananas and Ice Cream, or when in season, a Thai tropical delight of Mango Sticky Rice. The purple sticky rice is draped in sweet coconut milk, and topped with perfectly rippened mango. It's great to share, but you'll want to enjoy it all to yourself again and again. In summary, if you're ever in downtown Tempe, and are craving incredible Thai food, head over to Thai Basil, you will not be disappointed!

Tasty Thai food. When we first walked in it gave a very good first impression. It was very clean and nicely decorated. Very good service. This was my first time eating Thai food. I love spicy food so this worked out perfectly. It was sooo good and tasty. I would highly recommend this place.

Pricey for the food. The food was alright but definitly lacking. The fried rice wasn't all that great it also was missing something. The food is overpriced and the place is really small.

Authentic, reasonable price, great people.. Having lived in Thailand for a few years, I love to eat Thai food and cook Thai food. Many Thai restaurants americanize their food, but Thai Basil seemed to do very well, expecially when asked to make it the way they would want to eat it. Charming atmosphere, very Thai, and actual Thai people who are willing to speak Thai to you if you know the language.

My parents, wife, and other friends have all loved the food, especially the Spicy Basil Noodle dish.
