Best Authentic Mexican Food. I have been eating at this restaurant since it opened on Mill Avenue about 30 years ago. I learned from my parents and grandparents to cook mexican food from scratch - so I am very picky with the mexican food I eat. This restaurant serves authentic mexican food. I really enjoy their tomatillo sauce enchiladas, chorizo tostadas, frijoles de la olla and tacos picados. The use of the white casedo cheese is a plus.

Good Food, Big Problems. The food here is great, but the service is VERY slow, the waitresses look unclean, but my biggest gripe with this place is they DO NOT ALLOW SEPARATE CHECKS! They are very rude to you when you ask about it too. Makes no sense, ruins an otherwise good experience.

College favorite serves unique central Mexican cuisine.. In Short
This no-frills restaurant specializes in central Mexico favorites. Many dishes are made with masa (not tortillas), and they're garnished with crumbly Mexican cheese (not a glop of cheddar). Many of the waitresses have been around as long as the restaurant itself, so patrons love the service just as much as the affordable prices. Dishes such as the Mexico City-style quesadilla (filled with chorizo or beef picadillo), the tart-like but savory sopes, and the fabulous La Olla (soup-style) frijoles are specialties.

It's OK.. This place is an institution, located across the street from ASU. It's an adorable, small place that feels familiar, even on your first visit. The food is reasonable, but not very interesting. I was a little disappointed with the small portions and generic flavors. Although the food is uninspiring, this place makes up for it with a great location and an intimate, homey dining room. If you go often enough, you will notice that this place has some very loyal regulars. If you're in the mood for affordable mexican at a sit down restaurant that's unique, this place should be considered.

Authentic and delicious. If you are tired of blandish Mexican food loaded and topped with greasy cheddar cheese, try this place. Everything is fresh and homemade and the farmer's cheese used is a nice change. Try anything with tomatillo sauce and you must try the mole. I miss the Clare Burro so much sometimes it hurts. Really.
