greasy tony's the one of a kind and will never see again.
I started going the greasy tony's in 1982 I use to go to other fastfood restaurants, But the fist time I had there Subs, cheesse steaks, Calzone and Pizza I will even go to any other restaurant again.
When the owner of greasy tony's past away I had to stop dating my dates work take me to a restauant and I can never eat out again. You will always be in My heart and soul Tony MY the good lord bless you.
I will see you in Heaven someday and I want my Calzone . So it is called Heaven's Greasy Tony's,
Can't remember if I like it.. Now I know what that means.. When I think to myself, I can't remember if I like that place, I find that, well, I don't. That's why I haven't been back. .... So, that applies with Tony's, but not fully. I don't go back, but it's okay food. ......So, I do like it for the food?...kinda, but the place has some issues. First, the good part: The food is okay for trying to find that "east cost" sub, hogie, etc...food and just okay for "that Phily" cheesesteak. Not down drop dead on match, but close. I never tried the Pizza as we all know that we can find the real thing here in town, but their pizza doesn't have "the look" that I am looking for.. yes, I am SOOOOO picky about my thin curst pizza. It may be good there; I don't know. Never tired the pizza. But what I don't realy like is that's it's not too clean. And the last time that I was there, I turned to get my food from the counter (apparently a second before he was going to call me) and they counter guy was eating one of my fries!!!!! Now that was disgusting. I was thinking of complaining but didn't. So, I have never been sick there, and the food is fine, but it could use a good cleaning and some manors from the counter guy. That memory is what stuck. Sorry Tony.
Loved the cheesesteak.
We ordered the cheesesteak sandwich and it was ALMOST Philly-authentic. The steak is sliced rather than shaved. Boo hoo. It is as close as we've ever gotten to the real thing on the west coast, though.
The prices are extremely reasonable. The place is as the name suggests....unkempt, never been updated, teetering on "Do I really want to go in there?" They use napkins, cups and sandwich wrapping paper "borrowed" from other places, such as Subway and Circle K. It's hilarious! But the food is definitely worth it. We will be back to try the hoagies.
can you feel the Jersey?. This place is an often overlooked Tempe treasure. When it's 2am and I need sustinence I forgo the usual quasi-diner fare and head straight for Greasy Tony's. The staff is nice, but mind your manners or they'll put you in your place. The sandwhich selection is amazing and I can tell you that they are all very good. The bread is hard and crusty on the outside and soft on the inside which makes for a great sandwhich. The cheeses and meats there are of a level of quality that you wouldn't expect when you gaze in from the street, but don't be fooled, this place is great and very cheap considering the size of the portions. Sandwiches come in whole or half, a whole has got to be 18 inches! Pizza looks scary, I always avoid it, love the sandwhiches though!
Great Pizza. The Pizza is excellent, just like back home in Jersey. Didn't think there was a good pizza place in this city but I was wrong. Alot better then that Streets Of New York. Should be Streets Of Domino's.
