VVVVVVVVVVVVery Average AT best. Im from sf, I asked if fresh, tuna was chewy and fishy; albacore was ok though seared and did not say this on menu, made it chewy , rolls were utterly tasteless over riced, no flavor at all, spent 70 bucks on lunch worth about 15. Shocked but sushi Ra was muuuuuuch better. and I purposely went to this small supposedly authentic place to avoid fancy loud music joints! Go to ebisu in SF
Kirin beer ok. Eh service was slow but rainbow roll was ok, they talked us into somthing called a dynamite roll that was three quarters mayonaise
#1 sushi in AZ. We haven't found any place that is a good. It is also affordable, which is a plus. Nice staff. Friendly sushi rollers. Good beer. The spicy scallop and spicy tuna is very tasty.
Very Traditional.
Born and raised in the Bay Area and coming from an Asian background I have been very disappointed with the lack of good Japanese food here in Arizona. That is, until my husband and I stumbled onto Hiro Sushi one night. I was SO excited! The restaurant is small and quaint, like some of the best places back home. Not to mention the food is excellent and the flavors very traditional. This is definitely not like RA where the food is "Americanized". We have been going now for several years and never have we had a bad experience. The food is consistently great, the sushi always fresh and the service is good as well. It was nice to find a restaurant here in the Valley and so close to home where I can order ocha (green tea) and have the waitstaff know what I was asking for.
If you're looking for a place to hang out and be seen, this is definitely not the place to go, but if you're looking for great food with authentic flavors, this is the best I have found in my neck of the woods.
Barelly Mediocre. Ok, so me and my friend read the positive reviews on this place and decided to drive almost 30 minutes to check iit oue. We were very dissapointed. The seaweed salad was too chewy, dry, and very bland. The miso soup was too salty...probaly too much soy sauce...the edamame was dark green from being overcooked...and no salt for it either. The rolls in itself were decent, but nothing at all to brag about. Move on. Let me know where the 'real best sushi in the Valley' is.
Wow, what a lucky find!.
My teen daughter and I were visiting from the Salt Lake area and were wandering around sort of aimlessly and stumbled upon Hiro.
It was our lucky day! It was the best sushi ever, and I've eaten at some of Salt Lake's best places. Even the California roll was really special. My daughter even tried the eel roll for the first time and loved it. The service was incredibly attentive without being annoying.
We highly recommended Hiro to our local hosts and will definately eat there again the next time we visit.
Amazing Place. me and my mom were in Phoenix during the X;mas holiday, and didnt feel like squash into any place that with tons of people on the X'mas eve, so we pick hiro by reviewing the site, and this place was amazing, very good sushi and fresh sashimi
Truly wonderful sushi!. If you were to just drive by Hiro, and especially judging by it's surroundings, you wouldn't think twice, but when you go in, have a seat at the sushi bar and try what they have to offer, you'll be very glad you did. This is not the bar and popularity scene that Ra is, and if you are looking for a great place to get smashed on saki bombers, and oh, have some sushi too, Ra is perfect, but if you are looking for truly the best sushi around and a small, fairly quite place, Hiro hits the spot.
Without a doubt, the best. I have had sushi all over the Valley and in cities across the nation. I have never been to a better sushi restaurant. I would recommend Hiro without reservation to anyone who enjoys sushi or japanese food. They have the freshest fish and make perfect rolls. In a completely different class from the large-chain establishments, this limited seat establishment is where people who really enjoy sushi should eat. If you want to be seen, go to Ra. If you want the best sushi available, go to Hiro.
This is no RA....Thank God!. We love sushi and we try new places all the time, by far this is our new favorite! The food is awesome, we can't pick a favorite item because everything we tried was so good. The staff is friendly and will check on you regularly but there can be some trouble communicating because their English is not the best. The place is small and quite so if you are into the RA "be seen" thing this is not your place.
