In Short
Though it's surrounded by a bustling city, Lon's has the romantic ambiance of a remote desert oasis with wooden beams and stuccoed walls. Originally the home of Arizona artist Lon Megargee, the building's been restored in a Western motif, with glowing oil paintings and cowboy memorabilia. Lon's specializes in fresh takes on Southwestern dishes, but the menu meanders through various flavors. Brunch lovers go for the Brie quesadilla with smoked salmon.

Lon's at the Hermosa is a wonderful gem in the middle of the desert. The food is divine and the ambience is wonderful. The waitstaff is knowledgable and they offer suggestions when you're unable to decide. Each time I trusted them to pick something for me, I was thrilled with the selection.

This restaurant is a real treat. Great atmosphere inside the Hermosa Inn. The food is always delicious and the staff is very professional. This is an upscale restaurant and the pricing reflects it.

After 28 years in AZ we finally had a chance to visit this time honored landmark. Went during AZ Restaurant Week since prices seemed attractive. Cocktails in the lounge were excellent; dinner however was a major dissapointment. Appetizers were very good, but despite the high recommendation of our server - whose advice most of our party took - Lon?s Pork Tenderloin Medallions with Purple Mashed Potatoes and Red Wine Sauce was nothing more than flavorless pork tenderloin slices layered over even more flavorless potatoes - the sauce was nowhere to be seen. However my wife quite enjoyed her halibut & shrimp dish. The Valrhona Chocolate Truffle Torte with Minted Berries was grainy and overly sugary - berries were totally missing. The wine list is extensive but each wine catagory had one or two wines in the $40-$50 range - everything else was $80-$100+. Dinner for four with one cocktail and one glass of wine per person - even with the AZ Restaurant Week special - was well over $200. Nice location and ambiance, but there are far too many places in Phoenix with superior cuisine and reasonable wine prices to make Lon's worthy of a second visit.
