I have been looking for a new salon and have decided to try Salon Tru mainly because of the salon's reputation. I scheduled an appointment for a lip and chin waxing and haircut. I have had waxing done by many different salons before and I have to say this was the worst waxing job that I ever had done. 2 days after the treatment the left side of my lip is still swollen and red, it itches, and have red bumps all over. This has never happened to me before. Needless to say the room did not appear very clean and sanitary (the wax holder was dirty, the vent was all dusty, the bulb on the lamp was burned out, and instead of a decent sheet I had to lie down on some sort of a fleece fabric. I was very uncomfortable and now that I think about it I should have just walked out. The experience was so bad that I've decided not to have my hair done at this place. I understand that the wax technician is an independent contractor, but I don't think a reputable salon would or should tolerate such unsanitary conditions. I would never go back or recommend this place to my colleagues or clients.
Good stuff!. Hi There! Made an account just for this! I promised I would come on here and both review and fan my stylist Stacey, who did do great work so here I am. I had my treatment recently. I couldn't help but read some of the other posts on here and as much as I loved my results agree with some of the things said about unfriendliness, especially with the receptionist. Sorry! I found the hair assistant to be adorable and my kind of girl! All of that said I DID have a really fantastic first time experience with the keratin smoothing treatment, which I upgraded to a full (I bought a groupon). It ended up costing me around 290 dollars + the 69 dollars for the groupon. Yikes, but hey I would say that what matters is that I walked out with GOOD hair. I'll admit that I may be trying out a few other salons because I like a good girl chat but know I can always venture back if it means I'll end up with beautiful hair!
Trying to be polite about an Ok experience.....
Best blow out of my life! Stacey's assistant was super sweet!!! There are a few reviews calling the place old which is ridiculous, the entire vibe is charming and proper to old town scottsdale.
The receptionist came across as completely rude. I actually read another review with someone saying the receptionist had a bit of an attitude but honestly the girl was just rude! The receptionist actually rolled her eyes at me before telling me my stylist would answer my question (yes, it was just one.) A few girls waiting along with me, well we all gave each other the "whoa, um, wow," look. I simply want to feel good coming into a place I'm about to spend upwards of 300 dollars in. I have to be honest and say I also found Stacey my stylist a bit cold ( I wasn't looking to make a bestfriend but one question about me would have been nice) another stylist who witnessed my uncomfortable expression actually whispered not to worry as she was always like that. It was really sweet and made me feel less awkward so that I could just focus on reading/texting comfortably. I am a "happy person" and I do like the niceties that come with having a relaxing salon experience
Wonderful Salon and Stylist!.
I have lived in Scottsdale for a little over a year now and hadn't found my "go to salon"....that is until I found Kiley and Salon Tru. My friend and her husband both see Kiley and have had great experiences, so I decided to make an appointment.
Pro's: Kiley was attentive and she is very skilled. I am very happy with my cut and color. The salon is beautiful, and overall good atmosphere
Con's: I would have given 5 stars, except I was not impressed with the way I was treated at the front desk. I was ignored when I walked in by the young lady, and wasn't offered a refreshment until my stylist Kiley took me to her chair.
Overall my experience was good, and I already have my next appointment booked with Kiley
AMAZING! Kiley is wonderful.
I just recently moved to the Valley and had heard wonderful things about this salon. I had several bad experiences with other salons, and decided to try it again, and I am SOO glad I found Kiley.
She really listened to what I wanted, and gave me the most beautiful color and I really am enjoying my new haircut as well. I can't say thank you enough!! You won't be dissapointed!
I highly recommend Shana Dee Brown for color and hairstyle!.
I am writing this review to give 5 stars for the services of Shana Dee Brown at Salon Tru. I can honestly say that she is an expert in hair color, and I was highly satisfied and extremely relieved to find her. Please read on: First off, I have been a devoted and loyal fan of Aveda products for many years. What I didn't realize is that the level of Aveda salon services can differ so drastically due to the poor corporate structure of Aveda. I moved to Scottsdale from San Francisco one year ago. In San Francisco I entrusted the care of my blonde, highlighted hair to one Aveda stylist for 5 years. Upon my move to Scottsdale, I had the only two horrendous hair experiences at two different Aveda Salons. The first horrendous experience was Icon Hair Architexture in the Summit Center, Scottsdale; the second horrendous experience was at 2BUSALON at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Both claimed to be Aveda Salons. At 2BUSALON, the hairdresser, Crystal, had essentially no Aveda experience when she was referred to me by their receptionist. She was "coached" by the other stylists during my appointment. This was after I asked for an experienced senior level Aveda hairdresser, and was told by their receptionist that "everyone" was Aveda trained. When I left 2BUSALON, after 4 hours of "on the job training" my beautiful blonde hair was orange! I had to have this color corrected by my stylist when I returned to San Francisco for a visit, but was told I had to wait for at least a month because of the damage done. My other horrid experience was at Icon Hair Architexture Salon, by their stylist Marnie. After an initial consultation with Marnie, she decided mid way through the highlight experience to apply a base in a "cool" tone rather than the usual "warm" tones that my former hairstylist had supplied her with the colors she has used for 5 years. She decided not to inform me in this decision. Unfortunately Marnie advised me of this as she was removing the foils, and told me that in her opinion, this looked more "natural." I advised her that if I wanted to be dishwater blonde "natural" I wouldn't be sitting in her chair. I was fuming!
I am absolutely thrilled to find Shana Dee Brown and Salon Tru. She is a well experienced color educator for Aveda, and I could tell immediately that the entire staff had a loyal client following. I felt welcomed by the front desk, and I knew instantly I was in the right place. Shana put me at ease during the consultation process, and after the color and beautiful hairstyle (I have long layered hair), my hairstyle lasted three days. The color is still beautiful, and I have had many compliments. I did read a couple negative reviews of the physical appearance of the salon, and I would completely disagree. The Salon Tru is in Old Town Scottsdale where the buildings are quaint adobes. This Salon is clean, beautiful, welcoming, well ventilated and comfortable. I pre-booked my next appointment, and I would say that the fees are very reasonable for Scottsdale, Arizona.
Thank you so much for compliment. I take great pride in all of the staff at Salon Tru. I will make sure Shana reads your wonderful review. Thanks again...
ALLISON GARZELLA ROCKS MY WORLD!.
I'm not going to lie, the thought of someone messing up my cut and color absolutely terrifies me! Not only did Allison cut, color and highlight my hair EXACTLY the way I described, but I left looking a MILLION times better than I ever have! Aside from being a phenomenal stylist, she's super cute and personable at that!
Before going to Allison, I very rarely bought the products that were used on my hair. Since she has taken the time to explain why she uses each product and what it actually does, I have now implemented all of them into my daily routine. :o)
Awesome services with Kiley!!!!!. I had an amazing experience with Kiley at Salon Tru, and I wanted to share it with everyone. I was making a big change in my cut and color, and was very nervous as it was my first time at the salon. Kiley was very professional, knowledgable, and caring. She listened to what I wanted, and gave me a great haircut and the most fabulous color! I found my stylist!!!!
Best Salon, Best Stylist. Krista Severson at Salon Tru is an awesome stylist. She spends the time it takes to do a fabulous job. All of her attention is on her client, and she is absolutely incredible. She colors my hair so beautifully that I always receive compliments. I look forward to my next appointment!!
Brazilian Gloss. I just had the Brazilian Gloss Blow Out. I love it!!!!! Colleen did such a great job, as always! I knew I would like it, but I seriously I love it. I have naturally curly and frizzy hair (not fun). But now with this blow out I have soft shiny hair. It only takes me 15 minutes to style my hair and it looks just as good as it did when Colleen did it! I am so happy with the outcome. Thanks Colleen you are the BEST!!!!
