Going back to see 9Electric, the electro rock band. Great place to see a live band. I'm so excited to get back there and see this modern rock band. I love these guys.
Had a good time until Dirt Nasty.
I don't live in AZ, but have been here quite often and stopped in at the Martini Ranch a few times. It has a nice bar/lounge kind of feel and the patio is well set up. The crowd is 25-35 with a nice blend of tourists and locals. So overall, it's a pretty decent spot.
However, I stopped in there on 8/27/09 and was utterly appalled. After hearing a good DJ play house/techno and a pretty fun band that sounded like a Sublime/Beastie Boys/Lincoln Park fusion, this idiot called "Dirt Nasty" took the microphone. He started screaming lets party, do pills, snort yeyo, etc. and he was completely wasted. I thought Andrew Dice Clay swore a lot, but this guy takes the cake. At least Dice was funny back in the day with his vulgarity...this clown was just downright annoying. He was by far the least talented person I have ever seen perform anywhere. I could have gone up on stage and sang these awesome lyrics, "I'm in Arizona, and I drank a Corona, then I got a big bona so I called her on the phona". Reallly? Are you kidding me? Whoever decided to put this fool on stage should be fired.
New Year' 2007.
I would normally say this would be the place to hang out in Scottsdale for a great relaxed atmosphere, until my New Year' 2007 was ruined by Martini Ranch's extremely rude attitude towards their patrons that night.
I paid $25 to walk in the door, because Metalhead was playing..no biggie..I like Metalhead, and I planned on spending quite a bit at Martini on this night. I was completly prepared to ring in my new year here, and brought a few of my friends who were ready to do the same thing.
My party arrived at 8:30 to avoid a line and get a seat at the bar..the only place to sit not reserved. We started drinking, having a good time, and then at 10pm had our seats yanked from us so they could "make more room for customers at the bar".
So I look around, this place isn't even half full yet..not even looking like a normal Metalhead night at all. There was no apology when I said "hey, I've been here since 8:30, I came here to sit around and drink and you charged me $25 to walk in and there is no one here, and we aren't in anyone's way". There was just a shrug and an "oh well, we have to make room."
10:30 Metalhead comes on. Crowd size hasn't changed. Now my party is STANDING at an EMPTY bar while the small crowd this bar has is huddled on the dance floor like their at a Metalhead concert.
Now we weren't there for just Metalhead, we were there to hang out and have a good time. Sit around, drink and talk. I have gone to Martini for the last 2 years for New Year's..and last year I sat in the exact same place I did last night, and we never were asked to give up our seats..and the crowd was actually bigger last year than this year.
After half an hour of standing at an empty, uncrowded bar, my group walked out at 11:00 pm. We were made to feel uncomfortable for no reason, and I will never recommend this place again.
Never know what to expect. The crowd is always different everytime I go. I never know what to expect, but I always have a good time!
good bands. Went here for a show. Great band, but stage was less than ideal for viewing band. Drinks were adequate. It's the only real venue in Old Town, so I guess it's got a leg up there.
Offering great cocktails, live music and more..
In Short
Martini Ranch combines a sophisticated dance lounge and a down-home bar. This popular spot rocks the heart of Old Town Scottsdale's club central. Augmented by the poolroom and band stage, there's a Southwestern feel in the entryway and the courtyard out back. Live music is mostly local, occasionally regional or national. The bar offers everything from beer to mixed drinks, and true to its name, Martini Ranch offers 30 different house-blended specialty martinis.
Fun Dance Club. If you want to dance this is the place to go, but its very very loud. Extremely fun place.
Rip Off. I had visited Martini Ranch once before and had a good time, so I decided to go back. They had "Thursdays" advertsied as "NO COVER" and live music. When we got there we were surprised to find out that there was a $10 cover, but we were told that there would be 2 bands, so we paid and went in. What the rude bouncers called "bands" were actually 2 white guys dressed like a bad combination between Eminem & Vanilla Ice rapping to some beats and swearing their heads off. I will never, ever go back to Martini Ranch. Any place that will hire pieces of crap like that to attempt to make music doesn't deserve my business. Stay away from Martini Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ!
You're kidding, right?. Best martini in Phoenix? Just because the name of the place involves martinis does not make it the place to go for said cocktail... the joint is better suited to Long Island ice teas & long neck Buds. Very disappointed in the atmosphere, to say nothing of the vile martinis we had. If you are looking for a noxious, sweaty club, then this is the place for you. If you are looking for fine cocktails, run the other way. Fast.
The Chadwicks. You can't beat Martini Ranch on Thursday nights. The Chadwicks are always awsome and the atmosphere is super.
