Good food, good service. We've been twice, once for breakfast once for lunch, and satisfied. It's Mexican home cooking similar to what you'd get at Los Olivos, price is right. Service was very attentive. We'll go back again. Patio is pleasant even if it's in the parking lot. Good experience.

A gourmet market-cafe gone mainstream.. The Scene

Before Jacqueline's became Jacqueline's, it was C. Steele, the Valley's

first real gourmet shop. When Carol Steele left the building, she took much

of her energy with her. Still, as Jacqueline's, this full-service restaurant

and market remains popular with tourists and locals alike--primarily because

it offers so many experiences under one roof.

Although the inventory has been seriously reduced since C. Steele's heyday,

the marketplace still features Southwest specialty foods, wine, beer and

gifts, as well as customized gift baskets.

The Food

There are certain regulars who just come for the upscale breakfasts, which

include homemade corned beef hash, quiche, frittatas, omelets, and the

florid Sunrise Benedict (made with crab, asparagus, roasted red pepper and

green chile hollandaise on focaccia). Others like entree salads and fancy

sandwiches (try the ham and artichoke baguette) on the patio, coffee drinks

at the espresso bar or maybe just a quick stop at the bakery (offering

fresh-baked breads, cookies, cakes and cobblers), the gelato counter or the

chocolate display case.

None of the food here is great, but it's certainly serviceable, and thanks

to a certain amount of Southwestern color and kitsch, the cluttered decor

has its charms.
