even the dog was sick.... I am from the SF Bay Area, and therefore have pretty high expectations for Chinese food. The demographics are similar to that of a cruise ship. The place smells like a combo of sour old furniture and sick people. We ordered szechwan shrimp, steamed rice and their special "Abacus Chicken" - it says on the menu that it's highly recommended. The shrimp were cold, and served in what looked like premade sweet and sour sauce mixed with chili paste and a little soy sauce. The highly recommended chicken was really an abused piece of poultry, flattened, beaten, and fried - served on a place with watered down terriyaki-like-sauce (maybe garlic sauce with a little brown sugar and lots of water). Terrible! It was so bad we took it to go. We fed the chicken to our dog, and he was sick for two days. I will never eat there again!

Hot & Sour... Mmmmmm. Have had lunch at this establishment three days this week and when I finish this review I'm heading back for more... The H&S soup is simply the best I've ever tasted... The spicy chicken dishes are excellent... Service is prompt and friendly... Spend $6 for lunch in this place and you'll wonder why you ever gave money to sub shops, burger joints, or the trendy Asian offerings that just don't deliver... Fresh, delicious, and plenty of it...

bland food!!!. We stopped by for dinner and had the hot and sour soup (very good) and the sundevil chicken. Our servier told me it was very spicey it was bland and dry. We also had the beef with vegetables it was also lacking much flavor. The eqq rolls were over cooked and soggy. Service was fair and the food came quickly. We have eaten here before and the food was much better then. It will be a long time before we come back. The Golden Gate is much better.

LEARN HOW TO COOK!!!. I have eaten Chinese Food 6 out of 7 nights when living in NY, and I wouldn't feed this to my dog. My wife went to pick up an order that totaled $38 and I must say, I have never tasted such garbage. I attempted calling the manager and all he did was be nasty, rude and hung up on me. Since when is Chow Mein the same thing as Lo Mein? When did Wonton soup become leftovers from the kitchen? My friends, there are much better places in town.

Great Lunches!. I have been eating lunch at Abacus Inn (both at Elliot road and at 35th Ave and Thunderbird) for the past thirteen years. For the last nine months or so, I've eaten there four or five days each week. Their Hot and Sour soup is incredible and their Number 12 XXtra Spicy (with Jalapenos) is unbelievable if you enjoy really spicy hot, hot food. While I personally don't care for egg-drop soup, everyone that's tried it has raved about it as well ... it's great food for a great price :)

This place SUCKS!. I ordered wonton soup and it came out very MUSHY and SOFT! I spoke with the manager who simply replied, "We have been in the business for 21 years and this is the first time we have heard of this!" without any regards to try to offer to exchange the soup. TERRIBLE service! NOT RECOMMENDED unless you enjoyed being INSULTED and eating GARBAGE food!
