This Airport hardly deserves even one
star. If you are searching for flights and happen to find one that connects in Phoenix, think again before you book. In fact, go out of your way to get a flight that does not go through Phoenix! This is the most unorganized airport I have ever been to. Flights are frequently delayed - I sat in the terminal for three hours on my way to my destination because of a late plane. I watched numerous travelers run off their flights to get to their connections only to get to a gate that is closed, including myself. Monitors rarely report gate changes in advance and announcements of gate changes(if any) cannot be heard by the travelers on another plane. If you can run through crouds of people with your luggage in tow for about two miles to the correct gate without having an asthma attack you just might make your flight but not in an hours time. If you ask Airport staff for help they will refuse to give you any information and be down right rude about it. To say this airport is the freindliest airport in America is a complete and udder JOKE! When you miss your flight due to gate changing ridiculousness they won't even pay for your hotel room, they will give you a discounted rate but you still have to cover the room out of pocket.
At least, this airport was pretty clean to be honest and the seating did allow for travelers to sleep on - being without armrests. If you try to fly through Phoenix you'll be glad the seats don't have armrests because 9 times out of 10 you will need to to sleep in the Terminal. I hope this review helps. Safe Travels!
Urban airport serves as America West's home base..
In Short
Sky Harbor's three-terminal passenger complex is less than five miles east of downtown Phoenix. Sprawling Terminal 4, named for U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater, serves Phoenix-based America West Airlines. Stuck on a layover? The upper level concourse convergence in Terminal 4 is a good place to eat, relax or kill time with some shopping. United, TWA, Delta, America West and British Airways airline club members have access to lounge and office facilities. Travelers can also buy stamps, make copies and send faxes at information booths.
A Concourse Too Far. The other reviewers obviously haven't had to change planes with less than an hour layover, trying to get from a gate on the far end of the A concourse to the far end of the B concourse...moving sidewalks nonwithstanding, it must be at least a 2 mile trek. This admittedly beautiful facility needs more than just moving sidewalks...it's so large that mass transit would be more appropriate. We were lucky....it was late evening when we were making our trek, and we were given a "lift" by an airport employee. Without his assistance, I'm sure we would have missed our connecting flight. So, high marks for customer service, zip for convenience.
Good Style. Haven't traveled much, but when I have been here it's been fairly nice. Like most airports, all of the roads around the outside of the airport are confusing until you're used to them. But, inside it's pretty nice.
