Bad Restaurant. This placed changed hands 5 months ago. We went on Valentine's Day 2009. The prices were inflated to $40 - 55.00 dollars per entree and the food was awful. The food was dry like it had been left under a heat lamp for an extended period of time. It was not even that crowded. The only thing good were the servers. I would highly recommend AGAINST going to this place, if my experience is any indication of how it is all year long. I hope they can get their act together.
Critics of Moonvalley are just plain picky. *****As I read the bad review I realized, how could someone think something like that of this restaraunt? I have lived in moonvalley (9 Generations) and have many friends that always chose to meet and socalize here at Salute'! I am 29 years old and I know what I LiKe! From what I see, it is a modern look, and a young, romantic feel to it! There are older people I see go in there, and I'm pretty sure they are the ones that are the most picky, especially if your from "Moon Valley". I think the food, service, and atmosphere is AWESOME! Whoever is judging your restaraunt should just go home make their own food at home and quit complaining like old hags. Get over yourself and if your going to complain go to their face and be the grown person you are. AnYwAy, I love that place and will always choose it over any other Italian Restaurant in ArIzOnA! There's only one other restuarant I would go to, but would have me traveling half way around the world... :-) Thanks for being the best!
Unmatched quality.
My job has forced me to be working in Phoenix long term, eating out 3 or 4 nights a week. Such sacrifice! I've dined here once a week, sometimes twice for almost 2 years. I've taken many colleagues and my family there many times. I've NEVER had to wait to sit, or had anything cold that shouldn't be. I come back for quality eating as well as the friendly atmosphere. Ingredients are always the best and freshest, cooking and ingredient mixes are consistently about as perfect as you can get. Not only would I recommend Salute to anyone, I have done so frequently, always with gushingly positive responses from those that went.
Great work guys, I truly wonder if Mr. Negative was at a different restaurant (or I hate to speculate, but maybe works for a competing one?)
What happened to this place?. I'm really confused about some of the positive reviews about this place. Maybe they dined at a different restaurant. Last week when I was there, I stood at the doorway for over 10 minutes before anyone helped me. My dinner was good, but a little on the cold side. The place was nearly empty, and I never saw the manager or any complimentary lemoncello. A lot of my friends from the Moon Valley neighborhood used to come here also, but one by one, they've also become disenchanted and gone elsewhere. Unfortunate!!
Great experience!.
Yes, the interior is a little dated, but I think that is being excessively picky, because, once you taste the food, you will be hooked. I had the Zucca Ravioli (sweet, to-die-for) and my husband had the bacon-wrapped tenderloin with the shrimp scampi. My daughter ordered the Brandy Shrimp and Scallops, and had enough food for another full meal.
We were seated promptly by a very nice young hostess, and within one minute, water and some type of lightly herbed bread were on our table.
The lighting was dim and romantic, and we will definitely return without our daughter (hint hint).
The staff were friendly and fun--there seemed to be a lot of laughing coming out from the back, and the manager/owner(?) even came over and offered us some complimentary
homemade lemoncello, which was pretty potent.
This was the first time we had visited this establishment, and I highly recommend it.
Best italian food of all time!. Where to begin? First of all I love italian food, mainly because I grew up with it. I was born and raised in this area, and this is the only italian restaurant I would definitely recommend! The atmosphere is beautiful, everytime I enter I am always greeted by the sweetest hostess and not to mention the waitors treat me like a queen. Not only is this a great place to meet friends, but eating is simply heavenly! By far, Salute' has the best italian food in the North Valley of Phoenix. I see them going very far, especially with the employees being so nice and going out of their way for their customers. There are light settings that are so romantic and remind me of the restaurants I visted in Paris, France. No other place can compare to the tasty, lovable, and exquisite fine restaurant. TRY IT OUT! I'ts great! :-)
Needs to update/improve. This place has been suffering from excessive staff turnover. Have gone there for many years, and lately every time I've dined there, the staff is new and seems inexperienced. The manager, who has been around for a while, was arrogant and seemed uninterested in trying to impress diners. The food, however, is still very good, but the atmosphere & management sorely needs to be updated.
The food is delicious. Shame about the atmoshere.. I went to Salutes for the first time a few weeks ago even though I've lived in the area for years and I visit other places in the shopping center. I had the daily special and it was fantastic! The fish was amazing, the seafood ravioli had a creamy, flavorful sauce, the vegetables were fresh and tasty. I will definitely go back to try some of their other dishes. The chef is obviously skilled! The waiter was prompt and helpful. And I even got a visit from the manager (owner?). What I find unfortunate is that I've had this great little place right here, but there's nothing about the ambience that has ever pulled me in. And then, once I did go in, I was bothered by the atmosphere. Way too much focus on an empty outdated bar, and too many little lights everywhere, most horribly the colored Christmas lights that surround the front door. We are desperate here in Moon Valley, and pretty much all of North Phoenix, for a good quality restaurant. I really think Salutes has great potential. They just need to invest some money and decorating talent into it. Right now it has a strong 80s feel. I would love to see it become a cozy, romantic, timeless italian restaurant. It's possible!
Dishonest waitstaff, incompetent manager. The food is very good, but don't pay with a credit card! I received my credit card statement and saw that the wait staff gave himself a "bonus" tip of $30 on a 75$ bill. ( I originally left 15$). When I called to talk with the manager, he was unhelpful and brushed me off. I finally had to call the credit card company to get it straightened out. WATCH OUT, staff is dishonest!
