Editorial Review for Convivo Bistro – by Nikki Buchanan
In Short
The "mom and pop" in question are Mark and Pat Bloom. Mark Bloom is a talented chef who worked in the kitchen of Tarbell's for many years. Bloom puts an Italian spin on many of his contemporary American dishes. Wife Pat did a stint at Sportsman's and now offers a small, engaging wine selection. Humble, homey ingredients such as beets, greens, sweet potatoes and lentils show up regularly. Look for the Mediterranean appetizer sampler, and save room for one of Pat's desserts.

We gave Convivo Bistro a try, as it is under new ownership, and were so pleased with the entire dining experience. Chef Christian is a culinary master! We had the crab cake-exquisite, the lamb-best lamb we have ever tasted, the duck-the sauce was to die for, and finished with the lemon tart-can one meal excel in all areas like this one did? Yes, yes, yes! The service was exceptional and the atmosphere cozy and intimate. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves good food that is masterfully prepared!

I was visiting Pheonix last weekend and found this restaurant listed in Desert Living magazine. It was highly recommended and I must say I was not disappointed! We got there late without reservations and were treated graciously and after checking with the kitchen were seated at a very nice table. We did not feel rushed at all and the food and serfvice was fantastic. I would make it a destination restaurant.
