Phoenix >Don Jose Mexican Food
Glad your'e back!. We were so happy to hear that Don Jose was reopening again. We did go and eat there again and again it was great! One thought thou I hope you are ordering larger cups thou, and replace the chip plate our was crack all over and peeeling. The seats could use some re padding we had a booth seat and I could feel the wood and bumps. It's still cash only, but they do have a ATM great idea. So congrats to you and the family little changes would be great plus the red enchiladas were a little coarse maybe they could use a bit more cooking, dipping the whole corn tortillas in oil, my was hard to cut. But the beans were GREAT!!!!
DON JOSE'S HAS REOPENED!. Our families started going to Don Jose's back in 1967 and were very sadden when they decided to close in December 2005. We always teased them that they needed to another one on the Westside of town, but they never did. And now I see that they have reopened. Whoo-hoo!!
Don Jose REOPENING.
I started going to Don Jose in 1975 and loved the food they offered. When they closed I was really disappointed and I had to start looking for another Mexican food restaurant that was as good. To this day I haven't found one that could come close to Don Jose.
To my delight Don Jose is REOPENING! I called to see if they were open yet and the man that answered said not till probably 1-5-11. OPEN, OPEN, OPEN YAH can't wait
Don Jose' re-opening.
Yes it is true!
I have been eating at Don Jose' since i was born. It has been part of my entire life. I am now 40 and will Love to return to eating there.
Don Jose's is CLOSED!!!!.
Don Jose's is now CLOSED!!!!
Don Jose's was a great little mexican food place. Homey atmosphere, good, simple food. The salsa was simple and EXCELLENT!!! But Don Jose's closed down within the last year and it is no more. R.I.P.!!!!
Don Jose is the best Mexican food in existence.
I have personally been going to this restaurant since I was 5 (23 years ago) and my family has been going there since the early 60's. This is the best Mexican food that ever will be. Nothing special, just good tasting food. Good enchiladas, cheese crisps, tacos, rice and beans. Excellent enchilada-style chimichangas. The salsa...oh, the salsa, I could literally drink this as a beverage. It is so good.....hot but it tastes GOOD!!!!!!
Most would consider this place a dump, it is a litle worn, the decorations still look the same as 15 yeasrs ago. But it is simple, cheap, and good. Here's to another 20 yers and more of excellent Don Jose food!!!!!
Over 35 Years. Don Joses' has been my families favorite place for over 35 years. We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and every family function imaginable at Don Joses'. It was where my husband and I went after church when we were dating and we've been married over 33 years. Both sides of our families feel it is the best Mexican food in Arizona and we are all native Arizonans. Believe me we are picky when it comes to this type of food. And the very reasonable prices... we would pay alot more for it because it's worth it. It is family owned and run and we have grown up with their children and grandchildren. When my Mom was in intensive care we brought her an enchilada from Don Jose'; one of her last meals and last requests. They serve excellent, authentic Arizona style Mexican food. Couldn't recommend it more highly!!!
best in PHX!. This is by far the best mexican food in Phoenix, maybe even Arizona. The service is great and food is cheap. A family of four can eat for around $20. I would pay more though because the food is so good. Try it for yourself. You won't be dissapointed. We have been going to DJ's for over twebty years and will continue to go for twenty more. I reccomend the Chimichanga and beans. Don't forget the cheese crisp. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong.
Welcome to Heaven: aka "Don Jose". My family has been going to Don Jose for about 20 years. Since my mother is an accountant, she is in over her head with work during tax season. It is during that time that we go to Don Jose the most. The waiters/waitresses are kind. The food is excellent and reasonably priced. After we eat and pay the bill, we love to get the five cent mints. We have recommended Don Jose to our friends and they have fallen in love with their food. Even big families of 10 can sit at one table. The restaurant is nicely cooled or heated. However, not having a different section for smoking, sometimes makes me smell bad after eating. But it is worth the bad scent just to get my cheese crisp with a side of rice and lots of hot sauce. Thank you Don Jose!
Loving this place for 20 years!!. My mother started going to this restaurant when she was a teenager, and after my family moved back to the valley, I was introduced. I have always ordered a green chili burro, enchilada style with sour cream, never anything else, and have always been satisfied. My husband always orders a #2 with rice. By far our favorite restaurant, we have celebrated everything from birthdays, our engagement and now anniversarys in this place. Super friendly staff, and great food is what keeps us coming back. Now we live 29 miles away, but we make it there about twice a month. They definatly need an East Valley location!
