Historic Buffet. It's historic to me, anyway. I first ate at Golden Coin when it was located in Tempe. This was in late 1973. When I moved to Arizona for good in 1977 I ate there a lot–at least once every couple of weeks for nearly ten years. The current one, on Thomas, became a Golden Coin sometime in the 1980s, while the one in Tempe was gone by the mid 1990s. By that time I'd moved from the Phoenix area up to Prescott, with Golden Coin effectively becoming a fond memory.

Imagine my surprise when, purely on a whim, I found out in 2006 that the Thomas Golden Coin was still in operation. For nostalgia's sake I gave it a try, and to my delight discovered that the cooking was the same as I'd first encountered 33 years previous, with the selection of dishes no more extensive than it had ever been. Perhaps this does limit its appeal to today's customers—the environs of the establishment are nothing to write home about either—but for me it was like reuniting with an old friend. I've been there a couple of times since and have yet to be disappointed.

Real Chinese. The Golden Coin has the best Chinese food in the state. Definatly not that Chinexican stuff that the panda or pei wei serve. The Price is perfect for all you can eat but believe me, even if you get one of there meals to go... You'll have PLENTY of food. hard to finish the whole thing.

You have to be really hungry..... The most basic of chinese buffets, you must be really hungry to dine here. Very cheap prices but I would spend a little more for higher quality chinese food.
