Avoid at all costs – Awful food, inadequate wait staff. Stopped in before movie. The food at the theatre would have been better.
Fooled by Nixon - Join The Club – This Nixon fooled me. For years, I avoided what I thought was a tony, intimidating, power broker saloon, but what I discovered one evening was a respectable, out of the way eatery with a relaxed, neighborhood feel. (Caveat: Lunch atmosphere may differ - I've only been there at dinner.) Decor reminds me of a Chili's with the dimmer set to Low. The flatbread and club sandwich were delicious and prepared with more care than ordinary bar food. Our friendly waitress abandoned us towards end of meal, but the barkeep smoothly ensured we weren't late for our movie upstairs at the AMC complex. The next time Houston's has a 30 minute wait, I wont hesitate to stop over here instead.
Cool bar – We just went to drink there around 9:15 on a Friday night. It was pretty crowded in the bar area. Did not have any food that night. Great place to go for a drink to just sit and talk.
Phil's a user who loves Jason – Give me break says nell carter , this place is rotten to the core .
Food is cold and service is slow , this is got to be a tax right off for the Roses .
Great Food – Great food!! I had the chicken flatbread, and enjoyed every bite. Nixons has a great atmospher, it has a very east coast feeling. The staff was very friendly and good looking. I look forward to to taking my friends and family to this restaurant. It would be a great place to eat and then catch a movie, there is a AMC movie theather just upstairs from Nixons.
I like it! – I am not sure what some of these complaints are about the service is good and the food is even better. There is always great conversation at the bar and the staff are really great people. Political types frequent the place so there is often a chance to either say hello to a local politician (democrat or republican) or to catch up on the local poltical scene. Try the pasta sishes it is some of the best in town. If something comes up that you do not like just talk to one of the managers, they will definately take care of you.
Dining Room An Afterthought – Nixon's opened in the Esplanade with great promise. A dose of memorabilia, a menu featuring meals named after politicos, great flatbreads and a fun time all around. After a few months, however, the bar and grill became a bar and the grill became the afterthought. Most people wanting dinner without the lounge lizard set are sent upstairs to dine. It is quaint, but still dated and stuffy. The air circulation is minimal at best - hardly pleasurable on a Phoenix evening in June. Service is all but non-existent due to the fact that the waitstaff doesn't want to climb the narrow stairs with plates of food. Get your refills when you see the waitress because she won't make regular rounds. The food is decent, but a recent change in the menu skimmed selections and hiked prices. Nixon's, like the president, had potential. Now it is time they just resign.
