items not as described on menu. I went to Phoenix CIty Grill for a work associate's going away party . I ordered "Rose Dale Chicken", described on the menu a 10 oz roasted chicken with sauteed fingerling potatoes. I received a small

(6 oz or less ) halved cornish game hen cooked a LONG time ago a a large quantity of fairly good

mashed potatoes. The poultry really tasted BAD. Either it was spoiled or cooked in a cheap, jet fuel flavored,

white wine. I didn't feel free to complain because there were a number of people in the party who thought

the place was haute cuisine heaven. I have never before experienced the odd combination of bad food, high

prices and excellent service that I found at Phoenix City Grill.

PCG - Politically Correct Grub. Better than average fare, but food lacks pizazz normally associated with Best of Phoenix candidates. In half a dozen visits I've yet to have an entree, appetizer, side or sauce to enthusiastically share with companions, or to plan a return trip for. It's all cooked to order with no glaring missteps - but little joy of discovery either. My brother likes the pot roast. Smallish portions - dont plan on leftovers. Ambiance is right for a nice date or a business casual outing & is a pleasant step up from the usual neighborhood eatery. The spillover energy from the bar complements the dark, intimate dining area pretty well and gives PCG an appealing, upscale sense of place without being stuffy. Charming hostess, above average service.

Another disappointing phoenix food experience. I was very excited about going to the phoenix city grill. We had spoken with many of the local phoenicians and they had raved about the place being the "best food in the city!". Well I am either listening to the wrong people or phoenician pallets are way too dry from the desert climate to have a sense of taste.

My wife and I ordered two lunch SPECIALS. You would think the word special would mean exceptionally good new food for the day's lunch menu. Man were we wrong.

The Macacha beef sandwich I ordered was dryer than the Sonoran desert and my wifes roasted red pepper pasta was unoriginal, uninspired, and completely average.

By the way, I had ordered off the SPECIALS menu because the rest of the overpriced food menu (and wine list) was just as unoriginal, uninspired, and average.

Phoenix neighborhood gem. The menu options are not too great, but everything I've tried is done very well

Gotta love Sheldon. Me and my wife have been here many times, and the food and service are always great, with very attractive waitresses, and a charming ambience. My only complaint is that the patrons in the bar area are often smoking, and can be a tad rowdy at times.

Anyway, have to love a place run by a chappie named Sheldon.
