In Short – Phoenix Suns owner Jerry Colangelo energized the Valley and launched his own empire when he teamed up with America West Airlines to build a major sports and concert arena. Known as the Purple Palace to Valley residents (all the seats are the royal hue), the 20,000-seat arena, now the US Airways Center, is home of the Suns and host to the Coyotes, Mercury and Arizona Rattlers arena football team. Look for team shops inside, as well as the usual fast-food vendors.
